Job summary

Aakar Foundry seeks a skilled professional to Set and operate VMC/HMC machines for precision machining per production and development needs. You will prepare and modify CNC programs, read drawings, select tools, and ensure dimensional accuracy.

You will also support new product development, troubleshoot issues, maintain records, and work with cross-functional teams while adhering to safety, quality standards and 5S.

Qualifications

• VMC/HMC setting and CNC programming experience.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, dimensions and tolerances.
• Knowledge of tool offsets, work offsets and machining parameters.
• Experience in new product development, trials or prototype machining preferred.
• Basic computer and CNC-related software knowledge.
• Good problem-solving and teamwork with other departments.

Role & responsibilities

• Set and operate VMC/HMC machines for machining of components as per production and development requirements.
• Prepare and modify CNC programs for VMC/HMC machines as required.
• Read and understand engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances and machining requirements.
• Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts, fixtures and machining parameters.
• Perform machine setting, tool offset setting and workpiece alignment.
• Carry out first-piece inspection and ensure dimensional accuracy of machined components.
• Make necessary program or parameter corrections to achieve required component quality.
• Support new product development activities, trials and prototype machining.
• Identify and troubleshoot basic machining, tooling and programming-related issues.
• Coordinate with the New Product Development, Production and Quality teams for smooth execution of jobs.
• Maintain proper records of programs, tools, settings and machining parameters.
• Ensure adherence to safety procedures, quality standards and 5S practices.
• Minimize rejection, tool wear and machining time through effective process optimization.
• Perform other machining and development-related activities assigned by the HOD.

Preferred candidate profile

• Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering.
• 35 years of relevant experience in VMC/HMC setting and programming.
• Hands-on experience in VMC/HMC machine setting and CNC programming.
• Good knowledge of CNC machining processes and cutting tools.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions and tolerances.
• Knowledge of tool selection, tool offsets, work offsets and machining parameters.
• Experience in new product development, component trials or prototype machining will be preferred.
• Basic knowledge of computers and CNC-related software.
• Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as coordinate effectively with other departments.
• Willingness to work in shifts.
• Candidates from a manufacturing, machining or automotive component industry background will be preferred.
