Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Video Editor to shape the look and pacing of a growing media brand across YouTube, short‑form vertical platforms, and broadcast‑quality programming. You will work from raw multicam studio footage, remote interviews, and event recordings, cutting long‑form episodes that hold attention and turning that same material into vertical clips that stop the scroll. This is a craft role for someone with a strong story instinct, a clean technical workflow, and the discipline to deliver on a weekly cadence without heavy supervision.
About the Company
Our client is a faith‑based digital media and online education organization serving a global community of more than 125,000 women. The business publishes across a television program, a podcast, books, online courses, an apparel line, and a private membership community of over 90,000 members, all focused on personal growth, emotional healing, and purposeful leadership. The team is small, digital‑first, and based in the southeastern United States.
Ideal Candidate
An editor who thinks like a storyteller. You can find the through‑line in two hours of unstructured footage and build an opening that earns the next ten minutes. You understand that a YouTube edit, a broadcast episode, and a vertical short are three different crafts drawn from the same material. You care about audio as much as picture, you deliver on schedule with organized project files, and you handle personal and faith‑centered content with respect.
Key Responsibilities
YouTube and Long-Form
- Edit long‑form YouTube episodes, teaching sessions, interviews, and podcast video from raw multicam footage into publish‑ready pieces.
- Build strong openings and retention‑aware pacing using hooks, b‑roll, and chapter structure.
- Add titles, lower thirds, chapter markers, and end screens consistent with brand standards, and pull strong frames for thumbnails.
Short‑Form and Vertical
- Cut vertical content for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, TikTok, and Facebook from long‑form source, identifying the clip‑worthy moments yourself.
- Produce accurate, well‑timed burned‑in captions and kinetic text that read clearly on mobile.
- Reframe horizontal footage to vertical with proper subject tracking and safe‑zone awareness.
Broadcast and Course Production
- Edit television episodes to broadcast delivery standards, including resolution, frame rate, loudness normalization, and runtime.
- Sync and cut multicam sequences with clean, motivated transitions.
- Edit course and workshop modules with consistent instructional pacing across a curriculum.
Graphics, Audio, and Finishing
- Create lower thirds, title cards, transitions, quote overlays, and simple motion graphics.
- Perform audio cleanup and mixing: noise reduction, level balancing across speakers, music beds, and ducking so dialogue sits forward.
- Apply color correction and grading for a consistent look across cameras and sessions.
- Source and clear music, stock footage, and graphics within licensing requirements.
Workflow and Performance
- Maintain an organized media library with consistent file naming, versioning, and archiving so past footage stays reusable.
- Manage large file transfers reliably and turn around revisions quickly.
- Review retention and engagement data on published videos and apply what it shows to future edits.
Skill Sets Required / Preferred
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro.
- Motion graphics and titling in After Effects, with Photoshop skills preferred.
- Audio post work in Audition, Fairlight, iZotope RX, or equivalent, plus color correction and camera matching.
- Multicam syncing, proxy workflows, and comfort with large 4K media libraries.
- Captioning and subtitling, including SRT export and burned‑in styling.
- Demonstrated command of YouTube‑native editing: hooks, retention pacing, chapters, and end screens.
- AI‑assisted editing tools such as Descript or clip‑selection tools, with final creative judgment staying yours.
- A workstation capable of smooth 4K editing, a color‑accurate display, quality monitoring headphones, and internet service that supports reliable transfer of large media files.
Soft Skills
- Strong narrative instinct and a clear point of view about what to keep and what to cut.
- Meticulous attention to timing, sound, continuity, and finishing.
- Reliable self‑management against a recurring publishing schedule.
- Receptiveness to creative direction and a fast, accurate revision cycle.
- Discretion and cultural sensitivity when editing personal testimony and faith‑centered content.
Experience & Education
- Bachelor's degree in Film, Media Production, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Three to five years of professional editing experience, including consistent work on a YouTube channel or an ongoing episodic program.
- A current demo reel or portfolio link is required, ideally showing both long‑form and short‑form work.
