The Better India is seeking a creative Video Editor to turn ideas into scroll-stopping short videos for platforms like YouTube Shorts. You will craft engaging short-form content by repackaging long-form videos and podcasts into clips that hook viewers from the first second.

You should excel at fast-paced, platform-native editing, add captions, transitions, sound effects, and music, and collaborate with the content team on storytelling and structure to drive high engagement and retention.

Qualifications

Your Primary Role Will Be To

• Create YouTube Shorts
• Convert long-form videos into engaging short-form content
• Craft stories that hook viewers instantly and keep them watching

Key Responsibilities

• Edit high-quality short-form videos (30–60 sec) for YouTube Shorts
• Break down long-form YouTube videos and podcasts into multiple engaging short clips
• Add captions, transitions, sound effects, and music to enhance engagement
• Identify and build strong hooks in the first 3–5 seconds
• Ensure fast-paced, platform-native editing style
• Collaborate with the content team on storytelling and structure

What We’re Looking For

• Strong understanding of short-form content trends and audience behavior
• Ability to create high-retention, viral-style edits
• Good sense of timing, pacing, and storytelling
• Experience with tools like Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, etc.
• Ability to work quickly and iterate based on feedback

Bonus / Good to Have

• Experience in YouTube growth and content strategy
• Ability to write or improve hooks and scripts
• Familiarity with AI tools for editing or voiceovers
• Strong motion graphics skills (highly preferred and a big advantage)
