Designation: Vice President Staffing & Workforce Development
Desired Qualification: Bachelor's / Master's Degree; MBA strongly preferred
Location: Bangalore
Job Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned Vice President Staffing & Workforce Development to build and lead this department as a complete, sustainable business unit within Ethnus. This role carries end-to-end P&L ownership from strategy and client acquisition to team-building, systems, and compliance — and is responsible for establishing Ethnus as a credible, scalable player in the contract staffing space across manufacturing, e-commerce, hospitality, retail, and corporate sectors. The ideal candidate brings 15–20 years of leadership experience in staffing, workforce solutions, or HR services, with a proven track record of building a business vertical from the ground up.
P&L & Business Ownership:-
- Own the complete profit & loss for the Staffing & Workforce Development department — revenue, margins, costs, and profitability targets.
- Set the annual business plan, budgets, and growth targets for the department, and report performance against these to senior leadership/founders.
- Make pricing, mark-up, and commercial structuring decisions that balance competitiveness with sustainable margins.
- Identify and evaluate new revenue streams within the vertical (e.g., new sectors, geographies, or service lines such as RPO or payroll-only outsourcing).
Client Acquisition & Strategic Partnerships:-
- Personally lead engagement with large, strategic clients — corporates, manufacturing groups, e-commerce majors, hospitality chains, and retail networks — driving mandates that the frontline team alone cannot close.
- Negotiate and sign MOUs/master agreements with anchor clients, setting the commercial and operational template for the department.
- Build Ethnus's positioning and credibility in the contract staffing market as a trusted, emerging leader, through active participation in industry forums, associations, and senior-level networking.
- Guide and support the Corporate Relations Manager(s) on large or complex deal closures.
Team Building & Leadership:-
- Define the department's org structure and hiring plan, and work closely with Ethnus Management and HR to recruit the right talent — Corporate Relations Managers, Workforce Compliance Managers, and future support roles — as the business scales.
- Lead, mentor, and performance-manage the department's team, setting clear targets and accountability across sales and operations functions.
- Build a strong second line of leadership within the department to reduce dependency on any single individual, including the VP role itself.
Systems, Processes & Compliance:-
- Design and implement scalable systems and processes for mandate management, payroll processing, statutory compliance, client billing, and workforce lifecycle management (onboarding to exit).
- Ensure the department operates on strong compliance foundations (PF, ESI, labor law, sector-specific regulations across manufacturing, retail, hospitality, e-commerce) to protect Ethnus from statutory and reputational risk.
- Introduce technology/tools (HRMS, CRM, compliance tracking systems) needed to run the department efficiently at scale.
- Establish reporting frameworks (mandays worked, deployed headcount, fulfilment TAT, compliance audits, revenue per account) for consistent visibility to leadership.
Sustainability & Long-Term Growth:-
- Build the department as a durable, repeatable business — not dependent on one-off wins — through diversified client accounts, strong renewal rates, and operational reliability.
- Continuously benchmark against industry leaders to identify gaps in Ethnus's offering and close them proactively.
- Represent the Staffing & Workforce department in Ethnus's overall leadership/strategy discussions, ensuring alignment with the organization's broader goals.
Requirements:-
- 15–20 years of progressive experience in staffing, contract workforce solutions, or HR services, with at least 5+ years in a P&L-owning leadership role.
- Demonstrated success building or significantly scaling a staffing/workforce business vertical, ideally within a similar-sized or larger organization.
- Strong existing network at senior/CXO level across manufacturing, e-commerce, hospitality, retail, or corporate sectors.
- Proven experience negotiating and closing large-scale client agreements/MOUs.
- Strong understanding of statutory compliance, payroll operations, and labour law as applicable to contract staffing.
Benefits:-
- Health insurance coverage for you and your dependents
- Company-provided SIM card
- Partnerships with leading brands such as Google, Zoho, MMT My biz and more
- Attractive variable pay structure rewarding performance
- Tenure-based bonus to recognize long-term contribution
