Job Purpose
To lead and manage the entire manufacturing operations of the cable manufacturing plant by ensuring production targets, quality standards, cost optimization, safety, delivery commitments, productivity improvement, and continuous operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning & Execution
- Develop annual, monthly, weekly, and daily production plans.
- Ensure achievement of production targets within schedule.
- Optimize machine utilization and plant capacity.
- Monitor production efficiency across all manufacturing lines.
- Balance production according to customer priorities.
2. Manufacturing Operations
Oversee all production departments including:
- Wire Drawing
- Annealing
- Stranding/Bunching
- Insulation (PVC/XLPE)
- Cabling
- Armouring
- Sheathing
- Drum Packing
- Finished Goods Dispatch
3. Productivity Improvement
- Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Reduce production losses and downtime.
- Increase labour productivity.
- Improve cycle time.
- Improve plant throughput.
- Eliminate manufacturing bottlenecks.
4. Cost Control
- Reduce manufacturing cost.
- Control material consumption.
- Reduce scrap generation.
- Improve power consumption efficiency.
- Optimize manpower utilization.
- Monitor production budget.
5. Quality Management
- Coordinate with QA/QC to ensure product quality.
- Ensure compliance with BIS, IEC, IS, and customer specifications.
- Reduce rejection and rework.
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Participate in customer audits.
6. Plant Maintenance Coordination
- Work closely with the Maintenance Department.
- Plan preventive maintenance.
- Minimize equipment breakdowns.
- Support installation of new machinery.
- Improve machine reliability.
7. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Promote Zero Accident culture.
- Conduct safety reviews.
- Ensure PPE compliance.
- Ensure statutory compliance related to manufacturing operations.
8. Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement
- Implement Lean Manufacturing.
- Drive 5S implementation.
- Implement Kaizen initiatives.
- Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Lead Six Sigma and TPM initiatives where applicable.
9. Inventory & Material Management
- Coordinate with Stores and Purchase.
- Ensure raw material availability.
- Reduce inventory carrying cost.
- Improve inventory turnover.
- Minimize material shortages.
10. Cross-Functional Coordination
Collaborate with:

- Support new cable development.
- Introduce new manufacturing technologies.

Required Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Production, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
- MBA (Operations) preferred.
Experience
- 18–25+ years in cable manufacturing.
- Minimum 8–10 years in a senior production leadership role.
- Experience in Power Cables, LT/HT/EHV Cables, Control Cables, Instrumentation Cables, or House Wires.
- Exposure to large-scale manufacturing operations.
