Job summary

Jainco Transmission seeks a seasoned Vice President-Production to lead all manufacturing operations for cables in Howrah. You will drive production planning, capacity expansion, and continuous improvement across multiple lines, ensuring safety, quality, and cost discipline.

You will oversee maintenance, supply chain interfaces, and cross-functional teams, while delivering on-time delivery and customer commitments. A strong track record in large-scale cable plants is essential.

Qualifications

  • 18–25+ years in cable manufacturing; minimum 8–10 years in senior production leadership.
  • Experience in Power Cables, LT/HT/EHV Cables, Control Cables, Instrumentation Cables, or House Wires.
  • Bachelor's/B.E./B.Tech in related discipline; MBA preferred.
  • Strong leadership, strategic planning, and cost optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Production Planning & Execution: develop annual, monthly, weekly, and daily production plans and meet targets.
  • Manufacturing Operations: oversee all production departments and ensure process discipline.
  • Productivity Improvement: optimize OEE, reduce downtime, and raise labour productivity.
  • Cost Control: reduce manufacturing cost, waste, scrap, and energy use.
  • Quality Management: coordinate with QA/QC, BIS/IEC/IS standards compliance, reduce rework.
  • Plant Maintenance Coordination: plan preventive maintenance and minimize breakdowns.
  • Safety & Compliance: uphold zero-accident culture and PPE compliance.
  • Lean Manufacturing & CI: drive 5S, Kaizen, and TPM initiatives; implement Lean.
  • Inventory & Material Management: ensure material availability and optimize turnover.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: align with Sales, Planning, Purchase, QA, Maintenance, HR, Finance, SCM, Dispatch.
  • Team Leadership: lead managers, develop successors, conduct reviews, mentor leaders.
  • Customer Focus & New Product Development: meet delivery commitments and support new products.
  • KPI Monitoring & Strategic Responsibilities: monitor OEE, throughput, cost per meter, and plan capacity expansion.

Job Purpose

To lead and manage the entire manufacturing operations of the cable manufacturing plant by ensuring production targets, quality standards, cost optimization, safety, delivery commitments, productivity improvement, and continuous operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Execution

  • Develop annual, monthly, weekly, and daily production plans.
  • Ensure achievement of production targets within schedule.
  • Optimize machine utilization and plant capacity.
  • Monitor production efficiency across all manufacturing lines.
  • Balance production according to customer priorities.

2. Manufacturing Operations

Oversee all production departments including:

  • Wire Drawing
  • Annealing
  • Stranding/Bunching
  • Insulation (PVC/XLPE)
  • Cabling
  • Armouring
  • Sheathing
  • Drum Packing
  • Finished Goods Dispatch

3. Productivity Improvement

  • Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Reduce production losses and downtime.
  • Increase labour productivity.
  • Improve cycle time.
  • Improve plant throughput.
  • Eliminate manufacturing bottlenecks.

4. Cost Control

  • Reduce manufacturing cost.
  • Control material consumption.
  • Reduce scrap generation.
  • Improve power consumption efficiency.
  • Optimize manpower utilization.
  • Monitor production budget.

5. Quality Management

  • Coordinate with QA/QC to ensure product quality.
  • Ensure compliance with BIS, IEC, IS, and customer specifications.
  • Reduce rejection and rework.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Participate in customer audits.

6. Plant Maintenance Coordination

  • Work closely with the Maintenance Department.
  • Plan preventive maintenance.
  • Minimize equipment breakdowns.
  • Support installation of new machinery.
  • Improve machine reliability.

7. Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Promote Zero Accident culture.
  • Conduct safety reviews.
  • Ensure PPE compliance.
  • Ensure statutory compliance related to manufacturing operations.

8. Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement

  • Implement Lean Manufacturing.
  • Drive 5S implementation.
  • Implement Kaizen initiatives.
  • Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Lead Six Sigma and TPM initiatives where applicable.

9. Inventory & Material Management

  • Coordinate with Stores and Purchase.
  • Ensure raw material availability.
  • Reduce inventory carrying cost.
  • Improve inventory turnover.
  • Minimize material shortages.

10. Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Support customer inspections.

  • Support new cable development.
  • Introduce new manufacturing technologies.

  • Validate new equipment.

Required Qualifications
