Job summary

CMD Precision Products in Tamil Nadu, India, seeks a Vendor Development Engineer – Tool Room to manage tool room suppliers, review drawings, and assess manufacturing feasibility.

The role requires 3–5 years in tool room/vend or development, cost analysis, and strong knowledge of press tools, GD&T, and ERP/SAP. Fluency in coordinating with suppliers and internal teams, with a focus on on-time delivery and cost reduction.

Qualifications

• B.E./Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Tool & Die Engineering.
• 3–5 years of experience in Tool Room, Tooling Sourcing, or Vendor Development.
• Strong knowledge of Press Tools, Press tool spares, Jigs, Fixtures, and Gauges.
• Ability to read and interpret 2D drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing tolerances.
• Experience in tool costing, quotation preparation, and cost analysis.
• Knowledge of Machining, fabrication, heat treatment, and tool manufacturing processes. (Shaping / Surface grinding / Wire cut / VMC / Tool and cutter grinding / Cylindrical grinding)
• Experience in supplier development, supplier evaluation, and vendor audits.
• Strong supplier follow-up skills to ensure project completion and on-time delivery.
• Experience in quotation Preparation & comparison, and commercial negotiations.
• Good communication and coordination skills with suppliers and internal teams.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP/SAP systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and Manage tool room suppliers.

• Prepare and evaluate supplier quotations.
• Work out tooling, Spare costs and negotiate commercial terms.
• Follow up with suppliers for project status and delivery commitments.
