Job summary

Orcapod Consulting Services in India seeks a Detail Engineer for valve design to translate customer requirements into technical specifications. You will create layout drawings, sub-assemblies, exploded views, GADs, and IOM manuals, ensuring precision and compliance.

You will perform design calculations per ASME/API standards, select materials, and develop 3D CAD models in Inventor/AutoCAD while maintaining BOMs in SAP/PLM. Knowledge of GD&T and NACE MR0175 will be essential for success.

Qualifications

• Must be able to interpret GD&T and apply it to complex valve assemblies.
• Experience in creating layout drawings, sub-assemblies, exploded views and GADs.
• Knowledge of API, ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, and ASTM material specs.

Responsibilities

• Understand project requirements and detail technical specifications for valves and related products.
• Prepare engineering deliverables including layout drawings, sub-assemblies, exploded views, drawings, schematics, GAD, and IOM manuals.
• Perform design calculations per ASME/API standards and maintain design records.
• Select suitable materials for applications and ensure material compliance for projects.
• Develop and maintain 3D CAD models and drawings using Inventor/AutoCAD; maintain BOMs in SAP/PLM.
• Apply GD&T principles and ensure manufacturing process alignment with drawing standards.
• Create and manage material masters and BOMs within SAP/PLM systems.
• Demonstrate strong understanding of valve interfaces (gate, globe, check, ball, butterfly) and actuators.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

• Understand project /customer requirement and detail technical specification for the product.
• Prepare engineering deliverables including layout drawings, sub-assembly drawings, exploded views, manufacturing drawings, schematics, General Arrangement Drawings (GAD), and Installation, Operation & Maintenance (IOM) manuals.
• Perform engineering design calculations, maintain design records and file, support product range extensions, and contribute to product improvement and development initiatives.
• Apply and interpret relevant industry standards and codes, including API, ANSI, ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, and ASTM material specifications.
• Selection of suitable materials for applications for the project.
• Develop and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings using Autodesk design tools.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding and practical application of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), manufacturing processes, and engineering drawing standards.
• Create, maintain, and manage Material Masters, Bills of Materials (BOM), and related engineering documentation within SAP and PLM systems.
• Strong understanding of valve design principles for Gate, Globe, Check, Ball, and Butterfly valves or actuators (Linear, Quarter turn & Compact).
• Knowledge of pressure-containing & controlling component design or valve interface, cylinder, piston and spring cartridge.
• Design calculations as per ASME and API standards.
• Working knowledge of NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 requirements and applications.
• GD&T interpretation and application.
• Proficiency in Autodesk software such as Inventor and AutoCAD is mandatory.
• Basic knowledge in QMS (API Spec Q1 / ISO 9001).
