Job summary

Career Guideline is hiring for a Live Underwriter on-site in Pune. Immediate joiners required. The role involves performing income analysis across salaried, self-employed, rental, and other sources, and issuing final approvals or CTC decisions for U.S.

residential mortgage loans. You will review FNMA/FHLMC guidelines, assets, credit reports, and appraisal collateral to determine eligibility. Strong knowledge of underwriting guidelines is essential, with GNMA/FHA/VA familiarity a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of Mortgage Underwriting experience.
• Minimum 1+ year of Live Underwriting / Final Approval experience.
• Strong knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, and investor-specific underwriting guidelines.
• Familiarity with GNMA, FHA, and VA guidelines is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Perform income analysis from salaried, self-employed (business), rental, and other sources, including complex tax documents such as 1040s, Schedule E, K1s, 1120, 1120S.
• Perform Live Underwriting and issue Conditional Approvals, Final Approvals, and Clear-to-Close (CTC) decisions for U.S. residential mortgage loans.
• Review and underwrite mortgage loan files in compliance with FNMA, FHLMC, and investor-specific guidelines.
• Analyze borrower income from salaried, self-employed, rental, and other income sources, including tax documents such as 1040, Schedule E, K1, 1120, and 1120S.
• Review credit reports, liabilities, trade lines, public records, and payment history.
• Validate asset documentation, including bank statements, retirement accounts, and investment records.
• Review appraisal reports and collateral documentation to determine property eligibility and value.
• Make independent underwriting decisions (Approve, Deny, Suspend, or Counter) based on risk assessment and guideline requirements.
• Ensure regulatory compliance, quality standards, and adherence to turnaround time (TAT) metrics.
• Communicate underwriting decisions and conditions effectively with internal stakeholders and client
