Job summary

Google Operations Center in Hyderabad, India, seeks a network-focused engineer to manage domain mapping, optimize traffic, and maintain infrastructure configurations for reliable, secure web services.

You will troubleshoot routing, update legacy configurations, and write clear technical documentation while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high performance and security across global networks.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience in network engineering, systems administration, or site reliability engineering.
• Strong DNS knowledge including A/AAAA/CNAME/TXT/MX/NS and registrar management.
• Understanding of how web traffic flows with TCP/IP from user browser to server.
• Experience with microservices, load balancers, reverse proxies, and CDNs in domain traffic.
• Familiarity with HTTP/HTTPS, headers, redirects, and basic web security (CORS/HSTS).

Responsibilities

• Set up and manage domain mapping to link domains, subdomains, and short URLs to web applications and CDNs.
• Manage network traffic and routing for secure, reliable, and fast web service delivery.
• Update configurations, deployment scripts, and codebases without breaking live production systems.
• Keep documentation and configuration code up to date for the team.
• Troubleshoot routing issues including DNS propagation delays, SSL/TLS handshake errors, and certificate mismatches.

Role Overview

In this role, you will manage domain mapping, optimize network traffic and routing, and maintain infrastructure configurations while troubleshooting complex network issues and updating legacy systems to ensure reliable, secure, and performant web services.

Position Responsibilities

• Set Up and Manage Domain Mapping: Configure and maintain domain mapping systems to link custom domains, subdomains, and short URLs to web applications and CDNs.
• Manage Network Traffic and Routing: Oversee web request routing to ensure paths are secure, reliable, and fast across server networks.
• Update Older Configurations: Review and update existing codebases, configuration files, and deployment scripts to align routing setups without breaking live production systems.
• Keep Documentation Up to Date: Write clear configuration code and technical documentation for the team.
• Troubleshoot Routing Issues: Diagnose and fix common and edge-case network issues, such as DNS propagation delays, SSL/TLS handshake errors, and certificate mismatches.

Minimum Requirements

• Experience: 2-5 years of experience in network engineering, systems administration, or site reliability engineering working with domain infrastructure.
• Strong Knowledge of DNS: Understanding of DNS management, including configuring standard records (A, AAAA, CNAME, TXT, MX, NS) and managing domain registrars.
• Understanding of Web Traffic Flow: Clear understanding of core internet protocols (TCP/IP) and how a request travels from a browser to the server.
• Familiarity with Site Architecture: Good working knowledge of how microservices, load balancers, reverse proxies, and CDNs interact with domain traffic.
• Knowledge of HTTP and Web Headers: Understanding of HTTP/HTTPS mechanics, including request/response headers, redirects, status codes, and basic web security (CORS, HSTS).

Preferred Qualifications

Having as many of these specific qualifications is a plus, but transferable skills/experiences may be equally valuable:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
