Choice International in Mumbai (on-site) seeks a seasoned Reinsurance professional to develop and manage treaty portfolios for Insurance clients, including placement, renewal, structuring, and servicing.

You will coordinate with markets like GIC Re, Lloyd's, and international reinsurers, ensuring regulatory compliance and optimal terms. Strong negotiation, data analysis, and client advisory skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have handled treaty placements in a Broking Firm, Reinsurance Company, or Insurance Reinsurance Dept.
• Experience with property, engineering, marine, motor and liability lines is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of treaty reinsurance, regulatory norms and market practices.

Responsibilities

• A. Treaty Placement & Renewal - manage end-to-end treaty business and renewals with proportional and non-proportional structures.
• B. Market Visits & Negotiation - develop treaty portfolios with markets and negotiate terms and pricing.
• C. Client Management & Advisory - act as primary contact for cedants and present performance reviews.
• D. Documentation & Compliance - issue cover notes, treaty statements, and maintain MIS.

Department: Reinsurance Broking

Location: Mumbai (on-site)

Reporting: Chief Reinsurance Officer / Head of Reinsurance

Qualification: Graduate / MBA / CA / B. Tech - AIII / FIII / ACII (Preferred)

Role Summary

To develop and manage the complete Treaty Reinsurance portfolio for Insurance clients, including placement, renewal, structuring, and client servicing as per regulatory norms.

Key Responsibilities

• A. Treaty Placement & Renewal - Manage end-to-end treaty business including renewals and new placements - Proportional (Quota Share, Surplus) and Non-Proportional (Excess of Loss - Risk, Cat, Per Event). Collect, clean and analyze treaty data - Premium, Loss Bordereaux, SOV, exposure data from Cedents. Prepare treaty statistics, loss triangles, burning cost, and treaty structure analysis. Prepare Placement Slips, Reinsurance Slips and Treaty Wording.
• B. Market Visits & Negotiation To develop, market treaty portfolios with various Reinsurance markets such as GIC Re, Foreign Reinsurance Branches (FRBs), Cross-Border Reinsurers (CBRs), and Lloyd's, IIOs. Negotiate best terms, commission, and pricing for Cedants. Ensure adherence to regulatory norms such as Order of Preference, Contract management, TAT etc.
• C. Client Management & Advisory - Act as primary contact for Insurance Companies for treaty matters. Advise cedants on treaty optimization, retention levels, and reinsurance structure. Present annual treaty performance review and market updates to clients.
• D. Documentation & Compliance - Issuance of Cover Notes, Treaty Statements, and periodic settlements. Maintain 100% compliance on documentation, placement file, and system entry. Prepare Treaty MIS and maintain placement tracker.

5. Systems & Process:

Work on Broking ERP / Tally / Reinsurance management systems. Drive process improvement and automation.

Competencies Required:

Strong knowledge of Treaty Reinsurance, various Regulations, Reinsurance Accounting. Proficiency in MS Excel, Power Point.

Experience:

Must have handled treaty placements in a Broking Firm / Reinsurance Company / Insurance Company Reinsurance Dept. Lines Handled: Property, Engineering, Marine, Motor, Liability, Miscellaneous, Agriculture etc.

Soft Skills:

Excellent negotiation, analytical, communication, documentation and client relationship skills.
