Job summary

Daimler Truck AG in India is seeking an experienced Transmission Design Engineer with 5–8 years in gear trains, synchronizers and shifting systems. You will define concepts, perform performance calculations, DFMEA, GD&T, and validation planning using KISSsoft, ROMAX, CAE and 3D modeling tools.

Responsibilities include designing gears, bearings and housings, defining new subsystem concepts with suppliers, and supporting prototype development, field issue resolution and cost/weight reduction

Qualifications

• BE in Mechanical/Production/Automobile/Mechatronics with 5–8 years in transmission design.
• Experience across the product lifecycle including design, validation, testing, and field issue resolution.
• Proficient in DFMEA, GD&T and 3D modeling tools.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of all transmission components and their functions.
• Design and development of gears, bearings, synchronizers, shifting systems and housings.
• Develop proprietary transmission parts with suppliers.
• Define new concepts/layouts for transmission subsystems.
• Select transmissions based on performance calculations and B10 life.
• Use 3D modeling tools, KISSsoft, ROMAX, and CAE software.
• Define GD&T on drawings and perform DFMEA.
• DVP definition with testing teams at bench and vehicle level.
• Understand manufacturing processes, materials, and metrology of transmission parts.
• Prototype development for transmission parts.
• Root cause analysis and countermeasure implementation for field issues.
• Provide technical support to production to resolve concerns.
• Cost and weight reduction through design.

Job Description:

Experienced in transmission design and development with strong expertise in gears, bearings, synchronizers, shifting systems, housings, and proprietary component development across the product lifecycle. Skilled in transmission concept definition, performance calculations, DFMEA, GD&T, validation planning, and leveraging engineering tools such as KISSsoft, ROMAX, CAE, and 3D modeling software. Proven track record in prototype development, failure analysis, field issue resolution, production support, and driving cost and weight optimization initiatives through design innovation and validation.

Responsibilities

• Good knowledge of all components of Transmission & their functions

• Design & development experience of Gears, Bearings, Synchronizers, Shifting system & Housings

• Design & development of Proprietary Transmission parts with suppliers

• Defining new concepts / layouts for Transmission Sub-systems

• Selection of a transmission for a vehicle based on performance calculations & considering B10 Life

• Exposure to 3D Modelling softwares, KISSsoft, ROMAX, CAE Softwares

• Expertise in defining the GD&T on drawings for transmission components

• Expertise in performing DFMEA of all Transmission components & Overall Aggregate

• DVP definition along with Testing team on both Bench & Vehicle level

• Good Knowledge of Manufacturing process, Materials used & Metrology of Transmission parts

• Experience in prototype development for different parts of transmission

• Experience on Failure investigation, Root Cause analysis and countermeasure implementation

• Experience in Root cause analysis & Solution implementation of Field failures

• Technical support to production team to solve concerns

• Idea generation, Design Release, Validation & Implementation of Cost & Weight Reduction measure
