Job summary

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Transformer Testing Engineer with strong hands‑on experience in testing of Power, Distribution and other types of transformers. The candidate will be responsible for conducting routine, type and special tests, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, maintaining test records and coordinating with Production and Quality teams.

Key Responsibilities

Perform electrical testing of Power Transformers, Distribution Transformers, Furnace Transformers, Reactors and Solar Transformers.

Conduct routine, type and special tests as per applicable IS/IEC standards and customer specifications.

Perform and supervise tests including:

• Transformer Ratio Test (TTR)
• Winding Resistance Test
• Insulation Resistance (IR) Test
• Magnetic Balance Test
• Vector Group Test
• No-Load / Open Circuit Test
• Short Circuit / Impedance Test
• Load Loss and No-Load Loss measurement
• Induced Voltage Test
• Separate Source Voltage Test
• Oil BDV Test
• Tan Delta / Capacitance Test
• SFRA and other applicable diagnostic tests

Prepare and verify test reports, test certificates and inspection documents.

Ensure testing is carried out safely and accurately as per approved procedures.

Analyse test results and identify abnormalities or deviations.

Coordinate with Production, Quality, Design and Service/Repair teams for resolving testing‑related issues.

Support customer inspections and third‑party inspection agencies during transformer testing.

Ensure proper calibration and availability of testing instruments and equipment.

Maintain testing records, checklists and documentation.

Participate in troubleshooting of transformer testing failures and assist in corrective actions.

Ensure compliance with company Quality, Safety and EHS procedures.

Guide junior engineers and technicians in testing activities.

Required Skills

• Strong practical knowledge of transformer testing procedures and test equipment.
• Good knowledge of IS/IEC standards applicable to transformers.
• Ability to read and understand transformer drawings, nameplate details and test specifications.
• Experience in analysing transformer test results and troubleshooting failures.
• Knowledge of high‑voltage testing and electrical safety practices.
• Good documentation and reporting skills.
• Ability to coordinate with Production, Quality, Design and customers/inspection agencies.
• Good communication and team‑management skills.

Educational Qualification

B.E./B.Tech/Diploma Electrical Engineering

Experience

10+ years of relevant experience in Transformer Testing, preferably in a transformer manufacturing environment.

Industry Preference

Candidates with experience in Power Transformer / Distribution Transformer manufacturing and testing will be preferred.
