Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Transformation Programme Manager, Procurement based in India.

This role offers the opportunity to lead high-impact projects within a major, multi-year procurement transformation programme. You’ll take ownership of projects spanning a broad portfolio of initiatives designed to improve procurement efficiency, effectiveness, and ways of working. Working within a dedicated transformation PMO, you’ll manage delivery from planning through implementation while keeping scope, budget, timelines, risks, and outcomes on track. You’ll collaborate closely with technology teams, delivery squads, vendors, contractors, and senior stakeholders across international locations. The role requires strong influence and coordination skills, particularly in a matrixed environment where teams may not report directly to you. You’ll also contribute to continuous improvement by sharing lessons learned, strengthening delivery practices, and embedding best practices across the wider programme. This is a hybrid opportunity based in Pune, combining structured programme governance with hands-on project leadership.

Accountabilities:
  • Take end-to-end ownership of assigned projects within a large Procurement Transformation programme, ensuring delivery against agreed scope, schedule, budget, and outcomes.
  • Manage day-to-day project delivery by developing plans, monitoring progress, coordinating activities, managing risks, and keeping stakeholders aligned.
  • Apply established programme and project management methodologies, standards, governance processes, and ways of working.
  • Build, integrate, and maintain accurate project schedules, sequencing activities and dependencies to support timely delivery across the wider portfolio.
  • Work closely with technology teams to coordinate project deliverables, dependencies, and delivery commitments.
  • Coordinate and empower project squads, delivery partners, vendors, and third-party contractors in a matrixed environment, leading through influence rather than direct authority.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and vendors across multiple time zones, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
  • Monitor project risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints, escalating where appropriate and working with the PMO and relevant teams to develop mitigation plans.
  • Ensure projects remain aligned with the scope and outcomes approved through relevant project management and governance forums.
  • Prepare clear and accurate progress reports, performance metrics, benefits tracking, and governance materials.
  • Support a strong culture of risk management, accountability, continuous improvement, and delivery excellence.
  • Capture lessons learned and help embed successful practices across related projects and transformation initiatives.
  • Stay informed about evolving industry practices, internal policies, and procedures to support compliance and improve programme delivery.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Management, Project Management, Procurement, Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline; a Master’s degree is an advantage.
  • 10+ years of experience in project management and process improvement within large, complex programmes.
  • Experience managing procurement-related projects or transformation initiatives is highly desirable.
  • Recognized project management qualification or training, such as Agile, Waterfall, PRINCE2, APMG, or a comparable methodology.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects within defined scope, timelines, budgets, and agreed outcomes.
  • Experience coordinating and motivating project teams, delivery squads, vendors, and third-party contractors without formal line-management authority.
  • Good understanding of Source-to-Pay processes, including how procurement functions operate, create value, and address operational challenges and opportunities.
  • Experience working in international, multicultural, and cross-functional environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with senior stakeholders and governance groups.
  • Strong organizational, planning, analytical, problem-solving, and risk-management capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, dependencies, and stakeholders in a complex transformation environment.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Hybrid office/remote working model based in Pune, India.
  • Opportunity to lead high-impact projects within a multi-year procurement transformation programme.
  • Exposure to large-scale digital, process, and organizational transformation initiatives.
  • Collaboration with international teams, technology specialists, vendors, and senior stakeholders.
  • Opportunities for professional development and continued learning.
  • Supportive and inclusive working environment focused on diversity, collaboration, and career growth.
  • Opportunity to contribute to continuous improvement and shape future ways of working.
  • Up to 10% travel may be required.
  • Eligibility for relocation assistance within India.
  • Reasonable workplace and recruitment accommodations available for candidates who require them.
  • Opportunities to build experience within a global finance and procurement transformation environment.
