Job summary

About the Role

Somaiya School of Design, a constituent school of Somaiya Vidyavihar University, is hiring a Placement Officer to build and lead campus placement operations for our design graduates. This is a newly created, high-impact role for someone who can translate strong industry relationships into real placement outcomes for students entering the design profession.

What You'll Do

• Develop and grow relationships with recruiters and industry bodies in the design/creative sector
• Organize campus placement drives, internships, observerships, apprenticeships, and industry projects
• Provide one-on-one career counseling and placement support to students
• Design and deliver employability enhancement training (resume building, interview prep, aptitude training)
• Coordinate between students, faculty, and recruiters for smooth placement cycles
• Maintain accurate records of placements, company interactions, and training programs
• Track alumni for referrals and long-term industry networking
• Prepare placement MIS and reports for leadership review
• Promote the institution's brand via digital channels, brochures, and corporate visits
• Organize pre-placement talks and employer branding sessions

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's in HR or Marketing preferred
• 4–5 years of experience in campus recruitment, corporate HR, career services, training & development, corporate relations, or career counseling
• Prior experience in an academic institution or training agency is a strong plus
• Certifications in career counseling, campus recruitment, soft-skills training, or HR/recruitment are a bonus (not mandatory)
