Job summary

Konvertor in Maharashtra is hiring a skilled tooling technician to manufacture, repair, modify, and maintain press tools, dies, punches, and related tooling for production lines. You will read tool drawings and engineering specs, perform precision grinding, milling and assembling, run tool trials, and ensure proper clearances and setups.

The role requires hands-on maintenance and teamwork with Press Shop, Quality and Maintenance to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

• Experience in tool setting, fitting, assembly and trial activities.
• Ability to read tool drawings and engineering specifications.
• Capable of grinding, milling, drilling, fitting, filing, lapping, and polishing.
• Maintain records of tool repairs and preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture, repair, modify, and maintain press tools, dies, punches, die sets, and related tooling.
• Attend press tool breakdowns and perform corrective repairs to minimize downtime.
• Carry out tool setting, fitting, assembly, and trial activities.
• Read tool drawings, component drawings, and engineering specifications.
• Carry out grinding, milling, drilling, fitting, filing, lapping, and polishing operations as required.
• Check and maintain punch- die clearances, shut heights, alignment, and other tooling parameters.
• Support tool try-outs and trials and make corrections to achieve required dimensions and quality.
• Identify root causes of tool-related defects such as burrs, dimensional variation, cracks, misalignment, and improper forming.
• Carry out preventive maintenance of press tools as per the defined schedule.
• Maintain and replace worn-out punches, dies, springs, guide pillars, bushes, and other tooling components.
• Coordinate with the Press Shop, Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams for tooling-related issues.
• Ensure tools are available and ready as per the production plan.
• Maintain records of tool repairs, modifications, preventive maintenance, and tool history.
• Follow safety procedures while working on press tools and tool-room equipment.
• Maintain proper housekeeping and 5S standards in the tool room and press shop.
