Job summary

Astrobase Space Technologies Pvt. Ltd. is seeking a skilled Tool Maker to manufacture, assemble, and maintain tooling components on our shop floor, supporting precision production.

You will read engineering drawings, operate CNC and conventional machines, perform precision measurements, and document results, contributing to high-quality tooling and on-time delivery for our space‑tech projects.

Qualifications

  • Diploma/Technical certification in Tool & Die Making, Machinist Trade, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in tool making, die making, or precision machining.
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes and tooling materials.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T specifications.
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments.
  • Basic knowledge of CNC programming and CAD/CAM software is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture and assemble tools, dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Operate conventional CNC machines such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and EDM equipment.
  • Repair, troubleshoot and maintain production tooling to minimize downtime.
  • Read, interpret Engineering drawings and CAD models.
  • Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other inspection tools.
  • Conduct tool testing and validation to ensure compliance with Design documents.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to improve tooling performance and productivity.
  • Maintain accurate records of tooling maintenance, modifications, and repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company procedures.

Job description

JOB SUMMARY
  • 1. The Tool Maker is responsible for manufacturing/handling/maintenance of welding Fixtures, forming dies, pipe bending dies, structure handling beams and stands etc.
  • 2. Manufacturing precision components used in production processes. The role requires expertise in conventional and non-conventional machining, Ability to interpret Engineering Drawing, perform precision measurement and generate Inspection reports and problem-solving to ensure high-quality and efficient manufacturing operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 1. Diploma/Technical certification in Tool & Die Making, Machinist Trade, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 2. 3+ years of experience in tool making, die making, or precision machining (experience level can be adjusted).
  • 3. Strong knowledge of machining processes and tooling materials.
  • 4. Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T specifications.
  • 5. Experience with precision measuring instruments.
