Job summary

Astrobase Space Technologies Pvt. Ltd. is seeking a tooling design engineer to design tooling for fabrication, assembly, inspection, and safe handling of welding fixtures, dies, and related fixtures for launch vehicle integration.

You will ensure tooling availability, dimensional accuracy, reliability, and compliance with safety and quality standards while coordinating with system designers and manufacturing teams to improve tooling performance.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3–10 years of tooling, fixture manufacturing, die maintenance, or fabrication experience.

Responsibilities

• Design tooling for manufacture and assembly of welding fixtures, dies, and fixtures per drawings.
• Create process flow sheets, plan raw materials per BoM, and interpret design docs.
• Coordinate machining, welding, and assembly activities while ensuring accuracy.
• Ensure tooling dimensional accuracy and track maintenance and repairs.
• Validate new tooling against design drawings and improve tooling performance.
• Collaborate with system designers and manufacturing teams to boost productivity.
• Maintain records of tooling maintenance, modifications, and safety compliance.
• Adhere to safety, quality, and company procedures.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the design of tooling for fabrication, assembly, inspection, maintenance, modification, and safe handling of welding fixtures, forming dies, pipe bending dies, structure handling beams, tilting fixtures, and support stands used in Launch vehicle Integration. Ensure tooling availability, dimensional accuracy, equipment reliability, and compliance with safety and quality standards, Design requirements

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• 1. Design tooling for Manufacture and assemble welding fixtures, forming dies, pipe bending dies, handling beams, and support stands as per engineering drawings.
• 2. Create process flow sheets and work schedules, Planning of raw material procurement as per BoM
• 3. Interpret Design documents, GD&T, and manufacturing methods.
• 4. Coordinate machining, fabrication, welding, and assembly activities.
• 5. Ensure dimensional accuracy and functionality of tools and fixtures.
• 6. Conduct trial runs and validation of newly manufactured tooling to ensure compliance with Design Drawings.
• 7. Collaborate with System designers and manufacturing teams to improve tooling performance and productivity.
• 8. Maintain accurate records of tooling maintenance, modifications, and repairs.
• 9. Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company procedures.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 1. Diploma / bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Production Engineering, Tool & Die Design Engineering, or related field.
• 2. 3-10 years of experience in tooling, fixture manufacturing, die maintenance, or fabrication environment.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

• 2. Understanding of fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly processes.
• 3. Ability to decide the required GD&T for tooling and fixturing according to System Design, Engineering drawings.
• 4. Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance
