Job summary

Comfort Castors, a 34‑year‑old government-recognised manufacturing export house, is seeking an experienced Tool Designer for sheet metal tools, press tools, dies, jigs and fixtures. The candidate will design and improve tools, coordinate with production and tool-room teams, and deliver cost-effective, production-friendly solutions.

10+ years in sheet metal tool design is required. Proficiency in AutoCAD/SolidWorks/Creo/NX and strong manufacturing knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of tool design experience.
• Mandatory sheet metal industry experience.
• Strong knowledge of press tools, dies, forming, bending, cutting and punching.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo or NX.
• Able to work independently and own tool design work.
• Shop-floor understanding preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop sheet metal tools, press tools, dies, jigs and fixtures.
• Prepare detailed tool drawings, layouts, BOMs, and technical documentation.
• Work with production, quality, maintenance and tool room teams.
• Improve existing tools for productivity, accuracy, tool life and cost reduction.
• Support new product development and modification projects.
• Troubleshoot tool-related issues during production.
• Ensure designs are manufacturable and suitable for mass production.
• Coordinate with vendors and tool makers as needed.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Tool Designer with strong hands-on experience in sheet metal tool design, press tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and manufacturing support. The candidate should be capable of designing tools, improving existing tool designs, coordinating with production/tool room teams, and providing practical, cost-effective, and production-friendly solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop sheet metal tools, press tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
• Prepare detailed tool drawings, layouts, BOMs, and technical documentation.
• Work closely with production, quality, maintenance, and tool room teams.
• Improve existing tools for better productivity, accuracy, tool life, and cost reduction.
• Support new product development and modification projects.
• Troubleshoot tool-related issues during production.
• Ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and suitable for mass production.
• Coordinate with vendors and tool makers wherever required.

Desired Candidate Profile

• 10+ years of experience in tool design.
• Prior experience in the sheet metal industry is mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of press tools, dies, forming, bending, cutting, punching, and fabrication processes.
• Good understanding of materials, tolerances, tool life, and manufacturing feasibility.
• Experience in AutoCAD / SolidWorks / Creo / NX or similar design software.
• Should be able to work independently and take ownership of tool design work.
• Practical shop-floor understanding will be highly preferred.
