Job summary

The Staffing Guild is seeking a sourcing and procurement professional to manage fabrics and textile materials for production. You will evaluate fabric samples, understand textile finishes, and coordinate with vendors to ensure quality and cost efficiency.

You will negotiate rates, compare quotations, and maintain vendor relationships to secure timely production aligned with specifications and budgets.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate sourcing and procurement of fabrics and textile materials.
• Identify appropriate fabrics based on product requirements, quality and budget.
• Understand fabric characteristics, construction, finishes and applications.
• Evaluate fabric samples and assess suitability for production.
• Understand different textile production and finishing techniques.
• Advise on practical alternatives where a particular fabric, technique or production method is unsuitable.
• Identify, evaluate and coordinate with textile and production vendors.
• Maintain strong working relationships with reliable suppliers and manufacturers.
• Negotiate fabric, production and processing rates.
• Compare vendor quotations and assess value for money.
• Finalise rates with vendors based on quality, quantity, production requirements and commercial considerations.
• Maintain knowledge of prevailing vendor and market rates.
• Coordinate textile production from material selection through final production.
• Ensure vendors understand required specifications, materials and finishing standards.
• Monitor production progress and resolve technical or material-related issues.
• Coordinate with vendors when changes or corrections are required.
• Ensure production remains aligned with agreed specifications, costs and timelines.
• Inspect fabrics and finished products for quality and consistency.
• Identify defects, inconsistencies and production deviations.
• Coordinate corrective action with vendors.
• Ensure final products meet the required quality standards before acceptance.
• Maintain awareness of recurring quality issues with particular vendors or materials.
• Assist management with finalisation of fabrics, vendors, rates and production methods.
• Assess the commercial implications of different fabric and production choices.
• Maintain records of vendor rates, material costs and production information.
• Ensure pricing decisions are based on accurate market and vendor information.
• Protect confidential information relating to vendors, pricing, designs and production.
