Job Summary

We are looking for a Testing Engineer with 1–2 years of experience in electrical testing, preferably in the CT/PT (Current Transformer / Potential Transformer) and Instrument Transformer industry.

The candidate will be responsible for conducting routine and type-related tests on CTs, PTs/VTs, and related electrical products as per approved specifications, customer requirements, and applicable IS/IEC standards. The role also involves maintaining test records, preparing test reports, identifying abnormalities, and coordinating with Production and Quality teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and acceptance testing of Current Transformers (CT), Potential Transformers (PT), and Instrument Transformers.
  • Conduct electrical tests as per approved test procedures, drawings, specifications, and applicable standards.
  • Carry out tests such as:
    • Insulation Resistance (IR) test
    • Winding Resistance test
    • Ratio and Polarity test
    • Excitation / Knee Point test
    • Accuracy / Burden test
    • High Voltage / Dielectric Withstand test
    • Partial Discharge test, where applicable
    • Capacitance and Tan Delta test, where applicable
    • Other routine and special tests as per customer requirements
  • Operate and handle testing equipment safely and correctly.
  • Verify test equipment calibration status before conducting tests.
  • Analyze test results and identify deviations or abnormal readings.
  • Prepare and maintain test reports, inspection reports, test certificates, and quality records.
  • Ensure testing is carried out according to relevant IS, IEC, and customer standards/specifications.
  • Coordinate with Production, Quality, Design, and Maintenance departments to resolve testing-related issues.
  • Support investigation of testing failures, defects, and non-conformities.
  • Maintain proper documentation and traceability of tested products.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping and follow 5S, safety, and EHS procedures in the testing area.
  • Assist in customer inspection, third-party inspection, and pre-dispatch inspection activities.
  • Support development and improvement of testing procedures and methods.
  • Ensure timely completion of testing according to the production and dispatch schedule.
Required Qualifications
  • B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.
  • 1–2 years of experience in electrical testing, preferably in CT/PT, instrument transformers, transformers, switchgear, or related electrical manufacturing.
  • Good understanding of basic electrical engineering principles.
  • Knowledge of CT/PT construction, ratings, accuracy classes, burden, ratio, polarity, and insulation levels.
  • Basic knowledge of IS/IEC standards related to instrument transformers.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings, specifications, and test procedures.
  • Good knowledge of electrical measuring and testing instruments.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office for maintaining test records and reports.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
