Job summary

Weekday AI is seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance Engineer in Chennai to build robust test automation and drive AI-powered QA initiatives. You will collaborate across product, design and engineering to define testing strategies, develop automated and manual test cases, and scale automation using Playwright with TypeScript/JavaScript.

You will apply modern QA practices, engage in API and frontend testing, and contribute to continuous improvement in a fast-paced product environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in software testing, QA, or quality engineering.
• Experience using AI to generate automated tests or AI-driven testing.
• Hands-on expertise with Playwright and TypeScript/JavaScript for test automation.
• Strong frontend testing knowledge for modern web applications.
• Knowledge of DOM, browser behavior, HTML/CSS, and frontend debugging.
• Experience with API testing using Postman, Playwright, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Google Docs, and Google Sheets for documentation and collaboration.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab, CircleCI.
• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies in fast-paced product environments.
• Proactive mindset toward AI, automation, and engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

• Leverage AI tools and agentic workflows to improve testing efficiency, automation, exploratory testing, and defect analysis.
• Collaborate with developers, product managers, designers, and QA teams to define and execute effective test strategies.
• Design, develop, and execute automated and manual test cases for web and frontend functionalities.
• Build and maintain automated test suites using Playwright with TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Apply automation patterns such as Page Object Model (POM), Screenplay, and other scalable testing approaches.
• Validate API responses, authentication mechanisms, integrations, and end-to-end workflows using Playwright, Postman, and other API testing tools.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, exploratory, cross-browser, and cross-device testing.
• Identify, document, prioritise, and track defects using Qase, Jira, or similar tools.
• Conduct daily bug triage and work closely with engineering teams to ensure timely resolution.
• Analyse frontend issues using Chrome Developer Tools, DOM inspection, browser behaviour, and web debugging techniques.
• Develop and maintain test plans, test documentation, automation frameworks, and quality metrics.
• Contribute to improving test coverage, engineering quality practices, and team-level QA capabilities.
• Support CI/CD-based automated testing using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab, CircleCI, or similar platforms.
• Identify opportunities to improve testing processes, automation coverage, and engineering productivity.
• Help establish quality standards, testing best practices, and scalable QA processes across the engineering organisation.

We are looking for a highly skilled and proactive Quality Assurance Engineer who combines strong software testing expertise with a modern, AI-driven approach to quality engineering. The role is focused on building robust test automation, improving product reliability, and helping engineering teams deliver high-quality software faster.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Playwright, TypeScript/JavaScript, frontend testing, API testing, and AI-assisted testing workflows. Beyond identifying defects, you will help define testing strategies, improve QA practices, and enable developers and QA professionals to adopt more effective automation and AI-powered testing approaches.

WHAT MAKES YOU A GREAT FIT
