Job summary

Nokia in Bengaluru is seeking a seasoned Test Lead to define test strategy and drive end-to-end quality for carrier-grade telecom software. You will lead automation, performance validation, and QA, collaborating with Architects, product managers, and QA teams to ensure scalable, secure, and high-performing networks.

Your role includes writing test plans, executing functional and performance tests, managing defects in JIRA, and mentoring the team in modern testing practices for 2G/3G/4G/5G

Qualifications

• Graduate or equivalent degree with telecom software testing experience including Diameter, LDAP and HTTP protocols.
• Experience with TLS (v1.2+) and at least one NoSQL database (Cassandra/Scylla).
• Hands-on Linux administration, traffic simulators, and automation with Python or Shell.

Responsibilities

• Write, review, and execute test plans, cases, and automated suites.
• Collaborate with Architects, PMs and QA for end-to-end testing and issue resolution.
• Conduct functional, performance, regression, and UAT testing; track defects in JIRA.
• Analyze results, report findings, and identify performance bottlenecks.
• Promote best testing practices, ensuring security, scalability and performance.

Job description

If you love to deep-dive into telecom core networks, decode complex 2G/3G/4G/5G, IMS, VoIP/VoWiFi call flows, and lead end-to-end testing of carrier-grade applications, this role is for you.

As a Test Lead, you will drive test strategy, automation, performance validation, and end-to-end quality assurance for carrier-grade solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure scalable, reliable, and high-performing telecom products that power next-generation communication services.

• Writing, reviewing, and executing test plans, test cases, and automated test suites.
• Working with cross-functional teams, including Architects, product managers, and QA Testers.
• Conducting functional, performance, regression, and user acceptance testing, identifying and raising issues in tools like JIRA, and tracking defects through to resolution.
• Analyzing test results and reporting findings to stakeholders, identifying and reporting performance bottlenecks in applications.
• Assisting in quality assurance processes and best testing practices, ensuring scalability, security, and performance of applications.
• Keeping up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends and implementing best practices in testing.

Must-Have Skills

• Graduate or equivalent degree with 9 - 15 years of experience in telco grade software application testing, experience in Diameter, LDAP, HTTP protocols with understanding of messages involved in each these protocols. Experience working on TLS (v1.2 and above)
• Knowledge on at least one NoSQL database (preferably in Cassandra/Scylla)
• Hands-on experience in Linux, particularly RHEL/Rocky Linux concepts including understanding and fine-tuning of kernel parameters. Expertise in traffic simulators and Robot framework test automation tools is a plus.
• Experience in scripting using Python or Shell for automating day-to-day tasks.
• Good experience in test setup creation, test planning including writing test plans, test execution and preparation of test reports with important performance KPIs, K8s, helm, Docker/Podman and package management. Working experience in Azure is a plus.

Good-to-Have Skills

• Wireless Telecom background (MMSC/SMSC/SMPP/SMTP), hands-on working experience in Azure platform.
• Agile and Iterative S/W Architecture/development experience is a plus.
