We are seeking a Test Engineer to analyse, develop, and implement processes, technologies, and systems for the testing of Protection & Automation Relays. The role involves working with hardware and software design to perform fault detection tests of manufactured products, ensuring quality gates and meeting EHS policy standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design project test plans to qualify project requirements and functional specifications.
- Focus on automated testing, proactively setting up a test strategy and process.
- Design test cases listed in the project test plan.
- Improve test specifications by analysing root causes of technical issues and developing testing solutions.
- Create and apply new approaches to improve productivity and efficiency of testing.
- Work with minimal supervision on complex projects with latitude for independent judgment.
- Evaluate functional and non-functional requirements for testability and use suitable cases for automation.
- Design, build, and execute automated tests to validate manufactured products.
- Maintain automated scripts utilizing the existing framework, adhering to coding standards.
- Participate in troubleshooting and drive root cause analysis and resolution.
- Work closely with suppliers and other CFTs to analyse end‑to‑end scenarios, gather requirements, and implement them.
- Efficiently meet the timeline of assigned projects with quality output.
- Perform code review and support the creation of relevant documentation.
- Collaborate with globally located teams.
- Perform regular technical coordination / review with stakeholders and ensure timely reporting and escalations if any.
- Provide on‑shift production support when requested by production, including late‑evening support to meet project timelines or machine downtime.
Prerequisites
- B.E./B.Tech (Electronics & Communication / Electrical).
- An engineering graduate with 2+ years of experience in Test Automation of protection relays.
Skills and Knowledge
- Knowledge of test process (ATE and manual) and experience with device‑level and PCBA‑level test equipment.
- Familiarity with measurement equipment such as multimeter, Omicron, ERFI, Chroma, Sorensen, Doble.
- Awareness of communication protocols – RS485, GPIB‑IEEE‑488 – and safety standards; ability to read test proposals to develop new fixtures.
- Ability to develop fixture design/concepts for new products, and knowledge of electrical circuit diagrams, control logic, and problem solving.
- Proficiency in software languages C++, C#, VB.NET, Python, and hands‑on use of Microsoft Visual Studio.
- Interest in machine learning, data science, and AI.
- Ability to prepare test procedures and work instructions for test equipment and implement safety precautions during fixture design.
- Experience interacting with vendors for new fixtures and concept development; fulfilment of QMS and OHSAS standards and preparation of CA/PA and detailed analysis of frequent breakdowns.
- Knowledge of soldering and good fundamentals of electronics and electrical engineering.
