Job summary

Siemens is seeking a Testing Engineer for Power System Protection to oversee testing of Control and Relay panels for voltage levels across India and abroad. The role covers understanding client requirements, project documents, configuring numerical relays, testing, and facilitating FAT with customers in factory settings.

Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience with numerical IEDs (Siemens, ABB, GE, Schneider), experience with test kits (OMICRON, DOBLE, Megger), and strong communication

Qualifications

• Knowledge of wiring schematic drawings and protection philosophy.
• Experience with protection relays and numerical IEDs.
• Hands-on testing of protection equipment and SAS integration.

Responsibilities

• Test Control and Relay panels for various voltage levels.
• Coordinate FAT and customer inspections in factory.
• Provide support to Project Management / Engineering / Commissioning teams.

Testing Engineer Power System Protection

Location: Goa, IN

Role Overview

Test Engineer (Protection System) will be responsible for testing of Control and Relay panels used for various voltage levels in India and abroad for different applications. The incumbent will be responsible for different project phases like understanding client requirement, project specific documents, configuration of numerical relays, testing, and customer inspection (FAT) in factory. Support to Project Management / Engineering / Commissioning team for smooth execution of the project.

Key Technical Knowledge & Experience

• Knowledge & understanding on wiring schematic drawings
• Understanding of Power System Protection philosophy & applications
• Hands‑on experience in configuration of Numerical IEDs (Siemens, ABB, GE, Schneider)
• Hands‑on experience on test kits – OMICRON, DOBLE, Megger
• Experience in integration of Numerical IEDs with Substation Automation System (SAS)
• Understanding of client requirements / technical specifications

Substation Automation & Digital Technologies

• Basic knowledge of Substation Automation & Communication Protocols:
  • SNMP, SNTP, Modbus
  • IEC 60870-5-103
  • IEC 61850
  • IEC 60870-5-101
  • IEC 60870-5-104
• Basic concepts of Digital Substation

Testing & Customer Interaction

• Capability to handle Customer FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) independently
• Excellent communication skills (written & verbal)
