Job summary

Hubbell in Chennai, India, seeks a QA Engineer with strong networking domain testing experience to join our substation telecom projects. Design test plans, execute black-box tests, and validate hardware-software-communication interfaces.

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Computer Engineering and 5+ years of testing in networking domains are required, with hands-on work on L2/L3 protocols, VLANs, and loop protection protocols like RSTP and G.8032.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• 5+ years testing experience in networking domain products.
• Understanding OSI layers with emphasis on L2/L3 protocol testing.
• Experience with Loop Protection Protocols -RSTP (Rapid Spanning-Tree), G.8032.
• Experience configuring, troubleshooting, and testing network products (Routers, Switches, multiplexers).
• Understanding VLANs and port types (hybrid/trunk/access).
• Experience testing Ethernet/T1/E1/C37.94/Async/FXO/FXS protocols.

Responsibilities

• Test and qualify telecom domain systems used in substations.
• Contribute to QA process improvements.
• Design and develop test plans, reports, workflows, scenarios and test cases for black box testing.
• In-depth understanding of STLC (Software Testing Life Cycle).
• Be a self-starter who can deep-dive into the product to understand complexities.
• Derive System Integration Test cases from Product/Marketing requirements.
• Create out-of-box testing scenarios for bugs.
• Perform end-to-end system analysis and design of complex systems (hardware, software, communications).
• Excellent verbal and written communication.

• Bachelors degree in Electrical/Electronic engineering, Computer Engineering
• 5+ years of experience in testing in networking domain products
• Understanding of OSI layers with emphasis on L2/L3 protocol testing
• Understanding and testing experience with Loop Protection Protocols -RSTP (Rapid Spanning-Tree), G.8032 etc.
• Experience in configuring, troubleshooting, and Testing Network Products- Routers, Switches, multiplexers
• Understanding of VLANs, different port types (hybrid/trunk/access)
• Experience in testing following communication protocols -Ethernet/T1/E1/C37.94/Async/FXO/FXS etc.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Experience in Testing and qualifying Systems for Telecom domain Products used in substations
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the QA process, suggesting and implementing process enhancements.
• Design and develop comprehensive test plans, test reports, test workflows, scenarios and test cases for black box testing to ensure the quality and reliability of software products.
• In-depth understanding of STLC (Software Testing Life Cycle)
• Should be a self-starter who can deep-dive into the product to understand and explore the complexities of the product
• Experience in understanding Product Requirements, Marketing Requirements and deriving System Integration Test cases
• Should be highly creative in coming up with out-of-box scenarios for testing and bugs
• Perform end-to-end system analysis and design of complex systems (hardware, software, communications).
