Objective
Working as customer support scientist in the Technology team, to develop and maintain cost‑effective, high‑quality products for our customers which can be manufactured efficiently in Operations by understanding our formulating practices, customer specifications and test methods, working with Operations to transfer products smoothly into production and following our quality procedures to ensure continuous improvement.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop/optimize recipes for products following the APQP process, including preparation of lab samples and sufficient testing to demonstrate fulfillment of customer specifications, including color.
- Develop recipes that are cost‑effective, meeting our customers’ requirements while using low‑cost materials.
- Understand how recipe cost impacts the profitability of the company.
- Collaborate with the operations team and other functions to ensure new/modified products are aligned (scaled up) into production.
- Work with the application team to develop application line simulation parameters, ensuring line trials and product introductions are right the first time.
- Communicate with account teams so that all project team members are fully up‑to‑date with technical progress on projects.
- When relevant, identify suitable rework routes to support non‑productive inventory reduction with product quality control.
- Maintain test specifications and methods, develop new specifications and methods as required, and aim to minimize the amount of testing needed to meet customers’ requirements.
- Analyze and document results, preparing technical reports, examinations, and summaries.
- Ensure all project documentation is completed properly and fully available for any internal or external quality audits.
- Attend line trials of new product launches at customer sites.
- Lead or take an active role in problem‑solving of customer issues using appropriate methodology, e.g., 8D.
- Understand the process overview.
- Understand specific hazards on safety, health, environment related to the process.
- Understand the operation procedure.
- Apply safety practices related to work tasks.
Key Job Requirements
- Doctorate or higher from a top university, majoring in Polymer Materials and Engineering, Materials Science or another chemistry‑related major.
- Project management and problem‑solving skills.
- Good computer skills, including office, database, and statistical software.
- Good verbal and written English language skills.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration capability.
