Deutsche Bank in Pune, India, seeks a Mainframe Technical Operations Governance & Modernization AVP to lead governance, stability, and modernization of enterprise mainframe platforms. You will partner with infrastructure, application teams, vendors, and senior management to define standards and drive modernization initiatives.

The role requires deep mainframe expertise, enterprise-scale z/OS management, and experience guiding cloud transformation.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in Mainframe Infrastructure or Mainframe Engineering.
• 8+ years in technical support or governance roles.
• Proven experience managing enterprise-scale z/OS environments.
• Experience driving modernization and cloud transformation programs.
• Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity and efficiency.
• Strong knowledge of COBOL, JCL, CICS, IMS, and DB2.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain Mainframe Governance Framework, RACI, policies, standards, and procedures.
• Lead governance forums with infrastructure and vendor teams.
• Establish KPI, KRI, SLA, and operational health reporting.
• Oversee change, release, and problem management processes.
• Drive modernization of legacy COBOL, PL/I, JCL, CICS, IMS, and DB2 applications.
• Introduce CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code.
• Integrate mainframe platforms with cloud GCP platforms.
• Drive adoption of AI-assisted tooling for code analysis and migration.

The Mainframe Technical Operations Governance & Modernization Lead is responsible for the governance, operational stability, modernization strategy, and lifecycle management of enterprise mainframe platforms. Your key responsibilities

Define and maintain Mainframe Governance Framework, RACI, policies, standards, and procedures.Lead governance forums with infrastructure and vendor teams.Establish KPI, KRI, SLA, and operational health reporting.Strong expertise in ITIL-based service management, change management, disaster recovery and efficient mainframe operationsTrack audit findings, remediation plans, and risk register actions.Govern vendor service delivery and operational performance.Govern availability, capacity, performance, backup, and disaster recovery.Oversee change, release, and problem management processes.Ensure monitoring of critical platforms and operational tooling.Manage operational risk and service resilience.Review operational metrics and continuous improvement initiatives.Develop enterprise mainframe modernization roadmap.Lead the identification and execution of modernization opportunities across cloud integration, application transformation, platform modernization.Drive modernization business cases and investment proposals.Lead modernization of legacy COBOL, PL/I, JCL, CICS, IMS, and DB2 applications.Introduce CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and automation.Integrate mainframe platforms with cloud GCP platforms Drive adoption of AI-assisted tooling for code analysis, documentation, testing, and migration.

Your skills and experience

Mainframe Technologies: IBM z/OS,z15 / z17 Architecture,TSO/ISPF, SDSF , MQ and CICSDatabases: DB2 & IMS DBDevelopment Technologies: COBOL, JCL & REXX15+ years in Mainframe Infrastructure or Mainframe Engineering.8+ years in technical support or governance roles.Proven experience managing enterprise-scale z/OS environments.Experience driving modernization and cloud transformation programs.Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimise workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.
