Job description

Hygenco aims to be a global leader in deploying Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia-powered industry solutions. We develop and deploy scaled-up, commercially attractive Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia production assets. We combine our in-house expertise in renewable power, process industry, gases, and project financing with the latest innovation and know-how from our network of global OEMs and EPC firms. Hygenco is founded by industry professionals bringing in combined 30+ years of experience in Construction, Renewables, Operations & Maintenance, Investment banking and Private Equity.

We are seeking an experienced Technology Lead to serve as the Technology Package Owner for all electrolyzer-related systems within Hygenco’s green hydrogen and green ammonia projects. The role spans technology evaluation, advanced performance analytics, field performance monitoring, correlation development, internal R&D, and cross-functional technical leadership. The Technology Lead will be responsible for driving Hygenco’s long-term electrolyzer technology strategy and ensuring that our deployed systems deliver world-class performance, reliability, and efficiency.

This position is central to Hygenco’s technology organization, as it directly influences vendor selection, project execution, innovation programs, operational enhancements, and intellectual property creation. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in electrochemical engineering, electrolyzer stack and system design, degradation and performance modelling, and hydrogen technologies.

Required Qualifications

• 10–18 years relevant experience or 6–8 years post‑PhD with strong research/IP
• Deep understanding of electrochemical concepts, with applied knowledge.
• Engineering level understanding of Electrolyzer systems, hydraulics, CFD basics, heat/mass balance, material science, safety.
• Proven IP generation, strong technical writing
• Analytical, communication, cross-functional leadership

Educational Qualifications

• PhD preferred in Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Science, or a closely related field.
• Master’s degree (M.Tech/M.Sc/MS) in Chemical Engineering, Electrochemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related disciplines with exceptional electrolyzer or electrochemical systems experience.
• Bachelor’s degree (B.Tech/B.E./B.Sc) in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Materials, Energy, or equivalent) or Life Sciences/Physical Sciences (Chemistry, Physics, Applied Sciences, etc.) with strong demonstrated experience in hydrogen technologies, electrolysis systems, electrochemistry, or related R&D/industrial roles.

Responsibilities

• Act as the global subject‑matter expert (SME) for all electrolyzer technologies.
• Lead detailed evaluation of OEMs: cell design, electrode architecture, membrane/separator design, flow fields, power electronics integration, cooling, electrolyte management, gas‑liquid separation, safety philosophies.
• Review vendor FEED packages, specs, test reports, material selections, and degradation models.

Performance Monitoring & Optimization

• Monitor real‑time and long‑term plant performance.
• Create and refine KPIs & develop correlations between performance characteristics.
• Diagnose deviations and drive improvements.

Research, Modeling & Correlation Development

• Build electrochemical, thermodynamic, and fluid‑dynamic models.
• Develop predictive models with Digital/AI teams.

Intellectual Property & Innovation

• Identify and lead creation of IP in stack design, system innovations, controls, predictive maintenance.
• Produce internal standards, design philosophies, and patent disclosures.
• Engage with global OEMs, research institutes.
• Lead joint development programs and represent Hygenco at technical forums.
• Approve modifications and debottlenecking
