Job summary

VMware is seeking an experienced Lead VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Technical Trainer to deliver enterprise-level ILT and vILT. The role is hands-on with frequent classroom delivery and collaboration on curriculum and content feedback.

Occasional onsite travel to customer sites will be required. The ideal candidate will have 12+ years in related roles, VCI/VCVP credentials, and a strong background in VCF, vSphere, NSX, vSAN, and Kubernetes concepts.

Position Summary Purpose:

We are seeking an experienced VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Technical Trainer to deliver enterprise-level Instructor-Led Training (ILT) and Virtual Instructor-Led Training (vILT).

This is a core instruction role designed for a hands-on technical facilitator who can step directly into the classroom as a Lead Instructor with minimal ramp-up time. While the primary mission is active classroom teaching (~70% estimated delivery focus), the instructor will also lend non-delivery bandwidth to partner with the Business Unit (BU) on curriculum review and content feedback.

Note on Role Scope:

This is a customer-facing, delivery-first instructor position. Candidates coming from a dedicated curriculum design background should note that live teaching and lab facilitation form the primary core of this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Live Technical Instruction Facilitation (Primary Role): Serve as a Lead Instructor delivering high-touch ILT and vILT sessions to enterprise customer teams, engineers, and administrators. Facilitate complex hands-on lab exercises, run live technical demonstrations, and navigate unscripted, deep-dive QA with authority. Troubleshoot live lab environments and technical edge cases during active training delivery.
• BU Collaboration Curriculum Support: Lend subject matter expertise to the Business Unit (BU) during non-teaching windows to assist with courseware development, lab topology review, and student guide updates. Channel real-world classroom feedback and student insights directly back to the BU to keep training aligned with field needs. Help establish delivery best practices and assist in onboarding guest or peer instructors.
• Onsite Delivery: Travel to customer sites or corporate events for onsite classroom training as required.

Core Technical Domain Requirements

• VCF Platform Architecture: Multi-domain architecture, deployment, full-stack lifecycle management, and Day-2 operational strategies.
• Compute Virtualization: vSphere, ESXi host tuning, vCenter Server, cluster management, high availability (HA), DRS, and workload lifecycle operations.
• SDDC Management Domains: VCF management domains, workload domains, SDDC Manager / VCF management services, and upgrades.
• Software-Defined Networking Security: VMware NSX ecosystem, including virtual routing and switching, micro-segmentation, and security concepts.
• Software-Defined Storage: VMware vSAN architecture, storage policy-based management (SPBM), resilience, and operations.
• Operations Automation: Infrastructure monitoring, performance management, log analytics, and capacity management. Self-service automation concepts, governance frameworks, and API integrations.
• Cloud-Native Concepts: Modern Kubernetes concepts on VCF, including Supervisor services and Tanzu / VCF Kubernetes Services (VKS).
• Enterprise Infrastructure: DNS, NTP, certificates/PKI, identity, security, and high availability.

Qualifications Credentials

• Certifications: Current VCI (VMware Certified Instructor) status strongly preferred. Active VCP or higher advanced VMware credential preferred/required.
• Professional Experience: Hands-on experience operating, implementing, or engineering VCF environments. Background as a VCI, authorized technical instructor, Systems Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Technical Lead.
• Customer Presentation Skills: Proven track record presenting complex platform architectures to sophisticated enterprise engineering teams.

Experience/Education

Bachelors degree preferred. Relevant years experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
