Comaea Consulting seeks a Technical Superintendent (Chemical Tankers) based in Mumbai to take ownership of technical management of assigned vessels, ensuring safety, reliability, compliance, and optimal operational performance. This hands-on role requires collaboration with onboard teams, classification societies, vendors, and internal stakeholders to support fleet operations.

You will oversee technical readiness, maintenance planning, and budgeting, while coordinating with various departments

Qualifications

• Qualified Marine Engineer with COC Class 1 and tanker Chief Engineer experience of at least 6 months.
• Shore-based experience of 2 years managing technical vessel operations.
• Strong understanding of maintenance, dry-dockings, regulatory compliance and budgeting.
• Up-to-date with latest regulatory requirements and their implementation.

• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance to ensure readiness and reliability.
• Collaborate with departments to optimise performance, budget and resources.

• Develop technical guidelines, policies, and procedures to enhance efficiency.

THE ORGANIZATION

Reporting to the Fleet Manager, you will take ownership of the technical management of assigned vessels, ensuring high standards of safety, reliability, compliance, and operational performance. This is a hands‑on role requiring close collaboration with onboard teams, classification societies, vendors, and internal stakeholders to support the efficient operation of the fleet.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage and supervise technical aspects of vessel operations, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance to ensure vessels' technical readiness and reliability.
• Collaborate with various departments to optimize vessel performance, budget management, and resource allocation.
• Oversee dry‑docking, repairs, and maintenance schedules, ensuring cost-effective and timely completion.
• Develop and implement technical guidelines, policies, and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
• Coordinate and manage relationships with vendors, suppliers, and external stakeholders.
• Provide technical support and guidance to onboard crews and shore‑based personnel.

YOUR PROFILE:

• You must be a qualified Marine Engineer, COC Class 1, with sailing experience on tanker vessels as a Chief Engineer for at least 6 months.
• Previous shore‑based experience, minimum 2 years managing technical vessel operations.
• Good understanding of planned maintenance, dry dockings, regulatory compliance, and technical budgeting.
• Well updated with the latest regulatory requirements and its implementation.
• Strong planning, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• People are oriented and passionate about developing shipboard teams.
• Able to multitask and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• You have solid technical skills and enjoy solving challenging situations.
