Job summary

Navora, operating under the aegis of Maritimesolutionsltd, is seeking a hands-on Technical Superintendent in Chennai to lead the safe, cost-efficient management of an oil/product tanker fleet. This shore-based role links ship and shore to ensure vessels remain seaworthy, compliant, and performing at peak levels.

The ideal candidate has Chief Engineer experience, 1+ year shore experience, and bulk cape size carrier exposure, with strong MS Office reporting skills.

Qualifications

• Must have sailed as Chief Engineer or equivalent leadership on vessels.
• Minimum 1 year of experience as Technical Superintendent on shore.
• Experience with bulk cape size carrier vessels.
• Proficient in MS Office and reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary technical point of contact for assigned vessels, supporting Masters and Chief Engineers.
• Oversee maintenance, repairs, spares, stores, surveys, and inspections to ensure seaworthy condition.
• Drive PMS compliance to keep machinery in top condition and incident-free operation.
• Ensure all certifications and class requirements are up to date.
• Plan and supervise dry docking, surveys, and repairs with budget control and post-docking reports.
• Lead vessel performance analysis and advise on fuel and lube oil trends.
• Manage operating costs within budget without compromising safety.
• Lead incident investigations and implement preventive measures and risk mitigations.
• Initiate and oversee Management of Change for vessel modifications and new installations.
• Collaborate with owners, charterers, surveyors, contractors, and internal teams.

Overview

We are looking for a hands‑on Technical Superintendent to lead the safe, reliable, and cost-effective management of oil/product tanker fleet. This shore-based role is the critical link between ship and shore ensuring vessels are always seaworthy, compliant, and operating at peak performance.

What will you do?

• Act as the primary technical point of contact for assigned vessels, supporting Masters and Chief Engineers.
• Oversee day‑to‑day technical and operational maters: maintenance, repairs, spares, stores, surveys, and inspections.
• Drive PMS compliance to keep machinery in top condition and vessels incident‑free.
• Ensure all certifications and class requirements are up to date.
• Plan and supervise dry docking, surveys, and repairs, including budget control and post‑docking reports.
• Conduct vessel performance analysis and advise on fuel and lube oil trends.
• Manage operating costs within budget without compromising safety.
• Lead incident/accident investigations, implement preventive measures, and close out risk assessments.
• Initiate and oversee Management of Change (MOC) for vessel modifications and new installations.
• Collaborate closely with owners, charterers, surveyors, contractors, and internal teams.
