Job summary

NowPurchase, based in Kolkata, seeks a Technical Research professional with 4–6 years’ experience in R&D and product development for the metal foundry sector. You will explore new materials, read technical literature, and work with leading labs and suppliers to commercialize innovations.

You will coordinate with internal teams during product development, validate prototypes, and help shape new material categories for the Indian market.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's in metallurgical/materials engineering or related discipline.
• 4–6 years in R&D, product development, materials research or foundry/steel sectors.

Responsibilities

• Research emerging materials, technologies and foundry practices globally.
• Read papers, patents and journals to identify new product opportunities.
• Collaborate with IITs, IISc, NITs and international labs on projects.
• Work with global suppliers to develop products for Indian market.
• Support lab evaluations, trials, validation and troubleshooting.

Designation: Assistant Manager/ Deputy Manager

Role Description

• Research emerging raw materials, technologies, and manufacturing practices used in foundries globally.
• Read and analyze research papers, patents, conference proceedings, technical journals, and industry publications to identify new product opportunities.
• Collaborate with IITs, IISc, NITs, international universities, research laboratories, and industry organizations on technical projects and product development.
• Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to develop and customize new products for the Indian market.
• Support laboratory evaluations, industrial trials, product validation, and technical troubleshooting.
• Prepare technical reports, literature reviews, product specifications, trial protocols, and technical documentation.
• Track global technology trends and recommend new product categories for commercialization.
• Coordinate with internal Category Development, Procurement, Sales, and Operations teams during product development and launch.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in metallurgical engineering, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 4 to 6 years of experience in Research & Development, Product Development, Materials Research, Foundry, Steel, Ferro Alloys, Refractories, or related industries.

• Strong understanding of metallurgy and materials science.
• Ability to understand and interpret scientific literature and patents.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong curiosity and willingness to learn.
• Ability to interact with professors, researchers, laboratories, suppliers, and customers.
• Familiarity with characterization techniques such as XRF, XRD, SEM, ICP-OES, Optical Microscopy, Carbon/Sulfur Analysis, and Thermal Analysis will be an added advantage, but not necessary.
