Job summary

Persistent is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead large-scale Banking and Payments technology initiatives in a fast-paced SAFe Agile environment. The role requires strong technical leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and expertise in tokenization and digital wallets.

You will drive end-to-end delivery, manage scope, budgets, and risks, and coordinate with Product, Engineering, Security, and Infrastructure teams to ensure successful deployment and operational

Qualifications

• 10–15 years of software development or program management experience.
• Proven success leading large technology projects in Banking/Payments/FinTech.
• Strong Java background and enterprise platform knowledge.
• Experience delivering programs from initiation to production deployment.
• Familiarity with APIs, microservices, distributed systems.
• Experience with tokenization and digital wallet tech.
• Hands-on Agile (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) experience.

About Position:

We are seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead the delivery of large-scale, business-critical technology initiatives within the Banking and Payments domain. The ideal candidate will possess a strong combination of technical expertise, project leadership, Agile delivery experience, and stakeholder management capabilities. This role requires driving end-to-end delivery of complex engineering programs, ensuring alignment between business objectives, technology strategy, and execution while working in a fast-paced SAFe Agile environment.

What You'll Do:

• Lead end-to-end delivery of complex, cross-functional, and multi-team engineering programs.


• Drive planning, execution, monitoring, and successful delivery of strategic Banking and Payments initiatives.


• Provide technical leadership for MDES programs, including tokenization and digital wallet technologies.


• Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, risks, dependencies, and delivery milestones.


• Ensure successful deployment and operational readiness of digital payment platforms.


• Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineering Teams, Infrastructure Teams, Security Teams, and external partners.


• Facilitate effective communication and alignment across business and technology stakeholders.


• Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, issues, and delivery constraints.


• Drive Agile delivery practices and ensure adherence to Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe methodologies.


• Support backlog prioritization, sprint planning, release planning, and roadmap execution.


• Ensure alignment between business requirements, technical architecture, and implementation plans.


• Monitor delivery metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives.


• Drive operational excellence across engineering and delivery processes.


• Support adoption and improvement of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.


• Coordinate customer onboarding, integration, and deployment activities.

• Support high-availability, mission-critical payment systems operating at enterprise scale.

Expertise You’ll Bring:

• 10 to 15 years of overall experience in Software Development, Technical Program Management, or Project Management.


• Proven experience leading large-scale technology projects within Banking, Payments, FinTech, or Financial Services environments.


• Strong technical background with hands‑on understanding of Java-based applications and enterprise platforms.


• Experience delivering complex programs from initiation through production deployment and operational support.


• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.


• Experience working with payment platforms, digital wallets, tokenization, and transaction processing systems.


• Hands‑on experience with Agile frameworks including Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe.


• Experience working in cloud‑based and service‑oriented architecture environments.


• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps methodologies, and release management practices.


• Strong project planning, risk management, dependency management, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.


• Experience managing multiple cross‑functional teams without direct authority.


• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage executives and technical teams.


• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.


• Experience driving technical discussions and influencing architectural decisions.


• Ability to operate effectively in high‑scale, high‑availability, and regulated environments.
