Job summary

Happiest Minds Technologies is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with 8+ years of experience to join the engineering team. You'll work across the stack from building performant, user-facing features in React to designing scalable backend systems in Java while owning the infrastructure and operational practices that keep everything running reliably in production.

This is a high-ownership role for someone who's comfortable moving between application code, system design, and infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with full-stack ownership.
• Strong backend experience in Java (Spring/Spring Boot ecosystem).
• Strong frontend experience in React (hooks, state management, component architecture).
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps (ADO).
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Solid database architecture knowledge (relational PostgreSQL/MySQL/SQL Server).
• Experience planning and executing data migrations in production environments.
• Ability to choose and implement the right caching approach for a given application.
• Experience scaling applications and diagnosing performance bottlenecks.
• Strong solution architecture skills and ability to communicate trade-offs.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Azure Monitor.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain full-stack features using Java (Spring Boot) on the backend and React on the frontend.
• Architect and evolve database schemas; plan and execute data migrations with minimal downtime.
• Design for scale: caching strategies, query optimization, latency reduction.
• Scale applications to handle growing load and design for horizontal/vertical scalability.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps for fast deployments.
• Own deployment and orchestration using containers and Kubernetes.
• Collaborate with DevOps/SRE practices to ensure reliability and observability using Azure Monitor.
• Drive engineering best practices: testing, code reviews, documentation, and design docs.
• Act as a solution architect and mentor junior engineers.
• Debug and resolve production issues with root-cause analysis and long-term fixes.
• Collaborate with product/design/engineering to translate requirements into solutions.

• Own deployment and orchestration usingcontainers and Kubernetes (pods, clusters, services)
• Collaborate with DevOps/SRE practices monitoring, alerting, logging, and incident response usingAzure Monitor to ensure system reliability and observability
• Driveengineering best practices: code reviews, testing strategy (unit/integration/e2e), documentation, and technical design docs
• Act as asolution architectfor features and systems evaluating trade-offs, designing scalable and maintainable solutions, and documenting architectural decisions
• Participate in architectural decisions and mentor junior and mid-level engineers
• Debug and resolve production issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing long-term fixes
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and other engineering teams to translate requirements into technical solutions

What We're Looking For

• 8+ yearsof professional software engineering experience, with significant full-stack ownership
• Strong backend experience inJava(Spring/Spring Boot ecosystem preferred)
• Strong frontend experience inReact(hooks, state management, component architecture)
• Hands-on experience building and maintainingCI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps (ADO)
• Practical experience withcontainerization and orchestration(Docker, Kubernetes ? pods, deployments, services, clusters)
• Solid understanding ofdatabase architecture(relational PostgreSQL/MySQL/SQL Server) ,schema design, indexing, and query optimization
• Experience planning and executingdata migrationsin production environments
• Ability to choose and implement theright caching approachfor a given application (in-memory, distributed, CDN, etc. not tied to a specific tool)
• Demonstrated experiencescaling applicationsdiagnosing performance bottlenecks and designing systems that scale with load
• Strongsolution architectureskills able to design end-to-end technical solutions and communicate trade-offs to stakeholders
• Working knowledge ofMicrosoft Azurecloud infrastructure
• Experience withAzure Monitor(or similar) for logging, metrics, alerting, and observability
• Strong grasp of software engineering best practices: testing, code review, version control workflows, secure coding
• Strong testing mindset writes thorough test coverage and proactively thinks throughedge casesand failure scenarios, not just the happy path
• Comfortable usingAI-assisted coding tools(e.g., Copilot, Claude, Cursor) as part of the daily development workflow
• Excellent communication skills and experience mentoring other engineers
