Role Type: Technical Leadership / Infrastructure / Cloud / DevOps
We are looking for a hands-on Technical Lead to take ownership of our technology infrastructure, servers, cloud environments, application deployments and production operations.
We currently have a technical team of approximately 1520 members that is growing very fast, including developers, QA, BAs, financial analysts, interns and junior/mid-level technical resources. We have multiple applications in development, with some approaching production and others already being used internally.
The person will be responsible for ensuring that our servers, applications, remote connections, databases and infrastructure remain secure, reliable, properly maintained and available for day-to-day operations.
This is a hands-on leadership role. We need someone who can troubleshoot issues themselves, guide the technical team, manage infrastructure and make practical decisions about performance, capacity, security, scalability and cloud migration.
Manage and maintain physical/remote servers, cloud infrastructure, Linux/Ubuntu/Red Hat and Windows environments.
Ensure developers and staff can reliably connect to required servers and applications through VPN, SSH, RDP and other remote-access mechanisms.
Manage user accounts, permissions, access controls, storage allocation and server resources.
Troubleshoot connectivity, server performance, networking, storage and access-related issues.
Manage DNS, VPNs, firewalls, networking, server security and infrastructure configuration.
Monitor CPU, RAM, disk/storage, network and database utilization and proactively identify performance or capacity issues.
Plan additional server, storage, database and computing capacity based on current and projected users, applications and business growth.
Design, deploy and manage infrastructure across AWS and our existing server environments.
Manage AWS services including EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, Load Balancers, Route 53 and CloudWatch.
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for reliable application deployment.
Manage Git/GitHub, Jenkins and deployment processes across Development, UAT and Production.
Establish reliable deployment, rollback, backup and recovery procedures.
Automate repetitive infrastructure and deployment tasks using Ansible, Terraform or similar tools.
Review application architecture, APIs, databases and infrastructure and identify technical gaps before production deployment.
Work with developers to take applications from their current stage through completion, testing, deployment and stable production operations.
Troubleshoot application, database, server and infrastructure issues and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
Monitor application performance and identify whether issues originate from the application, database, network or infrastructure.
Ensure public-facing applications are designed for appropriate scalability, availability, monitoring and recovery.
Maintain separate and controlled Development, UAT and Production environments.
Own infrastructure and server security, including firewalls, IAM, access controls, server hardening and security patching.
Establish monitoring, logging and alerting for servers, applications, databases and infrastructure.
Manage backups, disaster recovery and business-continuity processes.
Proactively identify vulnerabilities, performance issues and potential points of failure.
Manage production incidents and minimize downtime through appropriate preventive and recovery processes.
Lead, mentor and guide developers and infrastructure/DevOps resources.
Review technical work and ensure appropriate development, security and deployment standards are followed.
Coordinate between development, QA, infrastructure and business teams.
Plan technical tasks, releases and infrastructure requirements.
Identify technical risks and provide practical recommendations to management.
Work with external vendors/service providers when required.
Some applications will remain internal with smaller user bases, while others may become public-facing and require significantly higher scalability, availability and security. The Technical Lead will be responsible for ensuring that the infrastructure and technical architecture are appropriate for each requirement.
