APM Terminals, part of A.P. Moller - Maersk, invites applications for a Facility Manager responsible for end‑to‑end site services, electrical and refrigeration systems, and safety compliance at the Chennai facility. The role demands hands‑on management of ammonia systems, energy use, and maintenance planning.

You will work with operations to meet productivity targets, coordinate with government bodies for approvals, and ensure stringent safety standards across all activities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure smooth functioning in facility management, support services, and general site services.
• Operate refrigeration systems to meet temperature compliance in all chambers and processing areas.
• Manage the ammonia system and control energy consumption for the site.
• Assign shift operators for facility operations; apply inventory and stock management principles.
• Monitor data to analyze refrigeration performance and share compliance data with customers.
• Own maintenance activities, equipment charging, and preventive maintenance per schedule.
• Collaborate with the operations manager to achieve goals for assets and manpower efficiency.
• Provide recommendations for disposal, conversion, or upgrading of equipment.
• Oversee office services, coordinate telecoms, security, and liaise with government bodies for approvals.
• Provide technical advice and recommendations to senior management.
• Prepare annual budget for facility and support services.
• Set and monitor goals and standards for the facility.
• Ensure HSSE compliance and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Uphold the highest safety standards and promote safety initiatives throughout the site.

Job description

APM Terminals

• Ensure smooth functioning in areas of facility management, support services, general services of the site .
• Efficient running of refrigeration system to meet temperature compliance in all chambers / processing area / blast freeze, docks and ante room.
• Responsible for complete management of the ammonia system and energy consumption
• Allocate the responsibility to shift operators for manaing and running the facility. rinciples of Inventory / Stock Management.
• Monitor complete data to analyze performance of refrigeration system and keep maintain the data for compliance and sharing with customers.
• Take complete ownership of all maintenance activities, charging of equipments and carry out preventive maintenance as per schedule.
• Works in tandem with operations manager to fullfill operational goals, efficiency and productivity of assets and manpower.
• Provide recommendation for the disposal, conversion or upgrade of the equipments.
• Oversees office services needed to support department operations, coordinates telecommunications services, building security services, liasion with government departments for necessary approvals for fire, safety, legal metrology, licenses and necessary approvals from local bodies.
• Provide technical advice and recommendations to senior management.
• Prepare annual budget for facility and management support services.
• Determines goals and standards of the facility
• Complying with HSSE Requirements and ensuring Corrective and Preventive Actions.
• Follow the highest safety standards with no compromise.
• Understand and promote the importance of Safety by observing and supporting all safety initiatives strictly and demonstrate commitment towards safety
