Role Overview
Roquette is a family-owned global leader in plant-based ingredients and a leading provider of pharmaceutical excipients. We are looking for a Technical Business Development Manager – Food / Ingredients within the Customer Technical Service team located in Mumbai.
Purpose
The purpose of the India Technical Business Development Manager is to support Food Specialties products growth, especially starches and modified starches, leading the technical support and go-to-market strategy for India customers, driving mainly Nutrition, Dairy, Baking (Snacks) and Seasoning segments business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Build a robust sales funnel by identifying and developing new business opportunities (BOP).
- Lead technical concept creation and application development.
- Strongly support sales in converting BOPs into wins.
- Support customers with technical applicative know-how and training.
- Act as the single point of contact for business development and technical engagement.
- Bridge market needs from customers and technical solutions from Roquette, converting them into commercial wins through collaboration with Sales, CTS, Marketing, R&D and regional customers.
- Identify market needs, create customer mapping fitting value proposition of Roquette solutions.
- Build and execute the technical roadmap to generate valuable business opportunities in synergy with sales counterpart.
- Lead creation of application concepts with customers through recipe development, benchmarking, prototypes, and cost in use evaluation.
- Partner with Application Labs to run pilots, trials, validations, and scale ups.
- Build segment-specific concept menus and run targeted application campaigns.
- Lead technical support and trainings for key regional customers.
- Provide technical recommendations, troubleshooting, and formulation guidance.
- Leverage CTS expertise with customer technical teams to accelerate project success.
- Build and maintain a strong and reliable business opportunity pipeline (BOP).
- Ensure opportunities are logged, documented, reviewed, updated and progressed into trials at customers and wins using SalesForce as management tool.
- Partner with AMs to support first commercial conversions.
- Lead innovation workshops, customer co‑creation sessions, and technical showcases.
- Align trial protocols, value propositions, and technical data sheets.
- Collaborate with Marketing, CTS, Sales, and R&D to deliver segment campaigns, samples, and trainings.
- Contribute technical insights to regional and global category teams.
- Share trends, competitor activities, regulatory changes, and customer insights.
- Prepare quarterly segment intelligence updates.
Key Performance Indicators
- Pipeline (BOP), concept-to-trial-to-win conversion.
- Technical roadmap created, communicated, implemented and successful (BOP created).
- Innovation workshops delivered and validated concepts, generated BOPs.
- Customer technical satisfaction and project cycle time improvement.
- Segment revenue/profitability contribution and trial success rates.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of food ingredients (fibers, starches, modified starches, stabilizers, texturizers) and in the application areas of dairy, beverage, baking and snacks segments.
- Proven experience delivering technical trainings and managing customer R&D relationships.
- Strong business acumen, project pipeline management, and strategic thinking.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally with CTS, Sales, Marketing, and customer technical teams.
- Master’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Engineering or related field.
- 10–15 years experience in food product development, technical sales, or technical business development.
- Business travel: Domestic/international travel up to ~30%.
