OpenMetal, Inc. is seeking a Technical Account Engineer Lead to anchor our cloud systems engineering team and drive enterprise success across pre-sales, onboarding, and ongoing optimization.

You will combine hands-on cloud expertise (OpenStack, Kubernetes, Ceph) with team leadership, mentoring engineers, and direct collaboration with US-based Sales, Engineering, Product, and Customer Success. Fluent executive English is required for daily stakeholder engagements. Location: Remote, India.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in enterprise cloud infrastructure design/operations.
• Strong English communication with C-level stakeholders.
• Proven experience leading technical teams and escalations.
• Hands-on with OpenStack, Ceph, Kubernetes, and Docker.
• In-depth knowledge of IaC (Terraform, Ansible) and scripting (Python/Bash).
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT or equivalent practical experience.

Job description

We are seeking a high-performing Technical Account Engineer Lead to serve as the operational anchor, technical escalation point, and customer success leader for our cloud systems engineering team. In this role, you will lead the technical relationship for key enterprise clients across their entire lifecycle—from pre-sales architecture and onboarding to ongoing optimization, managed services, and infrastructure expansion.

You will combine deep hands-on expertise in cloud infrastructure (OpenStack, Kubernetes, Ceph) with team leadership, mentoring engineers and partnering directly with US-based leadership across Sales, Engineering, Product, and Customer Success.

Because this role involves daily executive stakeholder engagements, complex technical consulting, and driving customer escalations to resolution, fluent, executive-level English communication (written and spoken) is strictly required.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Escalation: Serve as the senior technical authority and escalation lead for customers and internal engineers. Provide daily operational guidance, workload oversight, and mentorship to ensure issues and incidents are driven to resolution.

Customer Lifecycle Ownership: Own the client journey end-to-end, including onboarding, cloud migrations, architecture guidance, managed support, and proactive account reviews.

Trusted Advisor: Act as a strategic technical consultant advising clients on cloud strategy, disaster recovery, high-availability architecture, performance tuning, and infrastructure optimization.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with US-based Sales, Product, Operations, and Engineering teams to advocate for customer needs, manage product feedback loops, and identify account expansion/growth opportunities.

Operational Excellence: Develop, standardize, and maintain runbooks, onboarding playbooks, automation workflows, and technical documentation to ensure high service quality and scalable processes.

Infrastructure & Automation: Maintain hands-on oversight of critical cloud platform technologies, leveraging tools like Ansible, Terraform, and Python to streamline operations

Required Qualifications & Skills

Experience: 7+ years supporting, designing, or operating enterprise cloud infrastructure and managed services, including direct experience serving as a senior technical lead, mentor, or primary escalation point.

Communication: Exceptional English verbal and written communication skills with proven experience interacting directly with C-level stakeholders, product leaders, and global enterprise clients.

Cloud & Platform Mastery: Advanced experience with cloud architectures, virtualization, containerization, and distributed storage—specifically OpenStack, Ceph, Kubernetes, and Docker.

Linux Systems: Expert-level Linux administration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and security practices.

Automation & Scripting: Strong experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet) and scripting (Python or Bash).

Customer Management: Demonstrated track record in technical account management, incident coordination, and leading complex, multi-stakeholder migrations or deployments.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
