Qualifications

What Were Looking For

• 5-8 years building production software, with a track record of owning systems end to end - from ambiguous problem statement to running in production.
• Strong architecture and system design. Youve made real tradeoffs at scale and lived with the consequences.
• Distributed systems experience: service decomposition, event-driven architecture, message queues, caching, failure modes.
• Deep in at least one of Go, Python, C++, or Rust, and comfortable moving between them.
• Production cloud experience - AWS preferred, containers and orchestration included.
• Engineering judgment. You reach for the simple solution first and you know when correctness beats cleverness.

Bonus Points

• Youve been early at a 0-to-1 startup. You know what it costs and you want to do it again.
• 1+ year managing or mentoring engineers.
• Youve shipped AI/LLM-powered products to real users - and dealt with the evaluation, latency, and cost problems that come after the demo.
• Analytics or data platform experience - pipelines, warehousing, large-scale query workloads.
• Fintech, trading, or real-time market data experience.
