Job summary

Geminus Tech in Pune, Maharashtra, invites a seasoned firmware and software engineer to maintain storage product firmware for enterprise and data center deployments. You will work on NVMe accelerators, SATA controllers and encryption controllers, ensuring reliability across devices.

The role covers study of product requirements, system-level development, host/server software integration, unit testing to high coverage, defect triage, and customer communication.

Qualifications

• Study product requirements for firmware & software development.
• Gain a comprehensive system level understanding for firmware & software development activities.
• Learn about host and server software required for device attachment and integration.
• Analyse hardware peripherals on the controller board.
• Understand firmware/software modules and features and assess implemented capabilities.
• Develop unit testing to achieve high code coverage (target ~90%).
• Collaborate with Test team and triage/fix defects in firmware or tools.
• Attend customer meetings as required and communicate progress.
• Release firmware/tools updates per cadence with customers.
• Provide weekly status updates and RCA discussions per company cadence.

Responsibilities

• Maintain firmware and software for storage products (NVMe, SATA controllers).

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for testing and validation.

Job Description

Scope of Work

The person will work on Firmware and Software maintenance of Storage products of a globally renowed company which develops and produces semiconductors and related technologies. These products are deployed in Enterprise and Data center and include the following:

• NVMe Accelerator
• SATA Controller
• Encryption controller

Requirements Analysis

• Study Product Requirements: Thoroughly study and understand the product requirements for firmware & software development
• Development and Equipment: Gain a comprehensive system level understanding for firmware & software developmental activities and equipment necessary for the complete system
• Host/Server Software: Learn about the host and server software required for device attachment and integration
• Analyse Hardware Peripherals: Understand the available hardware peripherals on the controller board

Firmware / Software Stack Analysis

• Analyse Firmware / Software Modules: Understand the various firmware / tools modules and layers organized within the storage product
• Evaluate Implemented Features: Assess the implemented features in the firmware / tools

Firmware / Tools Enhancements

• Firmware and software bug fixing, reported internally or from the customer
• Develop unit testing to achieve 90% code coverage
• Collaboration: Collaborate with Test team as required
• Fix Defects: Triage and fix defects in the concerned firmware or tools/application module
• Track Defect Resolution: Track the resolution of reported defects and ensure proper documentation and communication

Customer Communication

• Attend customer meetings and communicate with customers as required

FW and Tools/Driver Release

• Release as per customer agreed cadence for new features and/or bug fixes

Weekly Status & Meetings

• Provide weekly status and RCA meetings as required in the format and cadence prescribed by the company
• Attend all technical meetings on as-needed basis
