Job summary

Geminus Tech is seeking a firmware/software engineer to maintain storage product firmware and software for a globally oriented semiconductor company. You will work with NVMe accelerators, SATA controllers, and encryption controllers deployed in enterprise and data center environments.

Responsibilities include bug fixing, unit testing, collaboration with QA, defect triage, and customer communications. You will also participate in releases and weekly status meetings as part of a structured

• Study product requirements for firmware & software development.
• Gain system-level understanding for firmware & software development and equipment.
• Learn host and server software required for device attachment and integration.
• Understand hardware peripherals on the controller board.

Responsibilities

• Fix firmware and software defects reported internally or from the customer.
• Develop unit testing to achieve 90% code coverage.
• Collaborate with Test team as required.
• Triage and fix defects in the firmware or tools/modules.
• Track defect resolution with proper documentation and communication.
• Attend customer meetings as required.
• Release firmware/driver updates as per cadence with customers.
• Provide weekly status and RCA meetings as required.

Job Description

Scope of Work:

The person will work on Firmware and Software maintenance of Storage products of a globally renowed company which develops and produces semiconductors and related technologies. These products are deployed in Enterprise and Data center and include the following:

• - NVMe Accelerator
• - SATA Controller
• - Encryption controller

Requirements Analysis

• - Study Product Requirements: Thoroughly study and understand the product requirements for firmware & software development
• - Development and Equipment: Gain a comprehensive system level understanding for firmware & software developmental activities and equipment necessary for the complete system
• - Host/Server Software: Learn about the host and server software required for device attachment and integration
• - Analyse Hardware Peripherals: Understand the available hardware peripherals on the controller board

Firmware / Software Stack Analysis

• - Analyse Firmware / Software Modules: Understand the various firmware / tools modules and layers organized within the storage product
• - Evaluate Implemented Features: Assess the implemented features in the firmware / tools

Firmware / Tools Enhancements

• - Firmware and software bug fixing, reported internally or from the customer
• - Develop unit testing to achieve 90% code coverage
• - Collaboration: Collaborate with Test team as required
• - Fix Defects: Triage and fix defects in the concerned firmware or tools/application module
• - Track Defect Resolution: Track the resolution of reported defects and ensure proper documentation and communication

Customer Communication

• - Attend customer meetings and communicate with customers as required

FW and Tools/Driver Release

• - Release as per customer agreed cadence for new features and/or bug fixes

Weekly Status & Meetings

• - Provide weekly status and RCA meetings as required in the format and cadence prescribed by the company
• - Attend all technical meetings on as-needed basis
