Job Description: Team Leader Production | Plastic Processing

Location: Irungattukottai, Chennai, Tamil Nadu Industry: Plastic Processing / Automotive Components Position: Team Leader Production Experience: 10 to 20 Years Maximum CTC: 8 to 10.5 Lakhs

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Team Leader Production with strong hands-on experience in Plastic Processing and Injection Moulding, including good knowledge of plastic processing raw materials and their applications.

The candidate will be responsible for managing shop-floor production, manpower, machine performance, raw material utilization, quality, productivity, and delivery targets.

Key Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day production activities in Plastic Processing / Injection Moulding.
Achieve production targets while maintaining quality, productivity, and delivery requirements.
Supervise and allocate manpower across machines and production activities.
Monitor machine performance, cycle time, production output, rejection, and downtime.
Manage mould setting, mould changeover, machine start-up, and process parameters.
Ensure correct selection and utilization of plastic processing raw materials as per product and process requirements.
Monitor raw material availability, consumption, drying, mixing, and material handling.
Coordinate with Stores/PPC for timely availability of required raw materials.
Monitor material wastage, scrap, regrind usage, and material consumption.
Identify and resolve production and process-related issues.
Coordinate with Quality, PPC, Maintenance, Tool Room, Stores, and Dispatch.
Control rejection, rework, scrap, and process variation.Monitor and improve machine cycle time, productivity, OEE, and machine utilization.
Ensure adherence to approved process parameters and work instructions.
Maintain shift production reports, rejection reports, downtime reports, and MIS.
Implement 5S, Kaizen, TPM, Poka-Yoke, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Train and guide operators and production personnel.
Ensure proper safety, housekeeping, and discipline on the shop floor.

Plastic Processing Raw Material Knowledge

The candidate should have working knowledge of commonly used plastic processing raw materials, such as:

PP Polypropylene
ABS Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene
PC – Polycarbonate
PC/ABS
PA6 / PA66 – Nylon
POM – Acetal
HDPE / LDPE
HIPS
PBT
TPE / TPU
Glass-Filled / Reinforced Grades
Reprocessed / Regrind Materials
Masterbatch and Additives

Knowledge of material grades, drying requirements, moisture control, material mixing, colour masterbatch, regrind percentage, material identification, and processing temperatures will be preferred.

Required Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of Plastic Processing and Injection Moulding.
Hands-on experience with injection moulding machines.
Knowledge of plastic raw materials and material grades.
Understanding of material drying and moisture control.
Knowledge of injection moulding process parameters.Understanding of cycle time, mould changeover, machine capacity, and productivity.
Knowledge of plastic defects and their root causes.
Rejection and scrap reduction.
Process troubleshooting.
Manpower handling and shop-floor management.
Knowledge of 5S, Kaizen, TPM, Poka-Yoke, Lean Manufacturing, and OEE.

Qualification

Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Plastics, Polymer, Manufacturing, or related engineering discipline.

Candidate Profile

10 to 20 years of relevant experience in Plastic Processing / Injection Moulding.
Strong exposure to Plastic Raw Materials and Injection Moulding Processes.
Automotive plastic component manufacturing experience preferred.
Experience handling production teams and shop-floor operations.
Good understanding of production, quality, material consumption, and process control.
Willingness to work in shifts.
Candidates who can commute to Irungattukottai, Chennai preferred.

Compensation

Maximum CTC: 80,000 per month, depending on experience and current compensation.
