Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Manage the operations of the Ocean Solutions Department.
  • Responsible for workload management and back-up.
  • Process files per company standards.
  • Review all quoting activities.
  • Set-up new accounts and assignments; review SOPs and update profiles.
  • Monitor new account status to ensure quality performance.
  • Resolve problems or coordinate with appropriate personnel.
  • Support/sell with sales department as needed.
  • Maximize opportunities to improve customer service.
  • Provide staff training and mentoring; develop team.
  • Motivate team to achieve department goals.
  • Maintain 100% compliance with export laws and JAS standards.
  • Improve workflow for efficiency and productivity.
  • Understand country-specific requirements, especially shipments to US.
  • Manage branch/office reports (PODs, KPIs, etc.).
  • File FMCs to Ocean teams and verify rate validity.
  • Assist sales with rates and transport options.
  • Instruct overseas agents on shipping procedures for customers.
  • Assist Import staff with shipment issues.
  • Meet with customers/carriers as needed.
  • Complete shipments per defined business processes.

SUMMARY** :**

Supervise and assist in overseeing the Ocean Solutions department to ensure the movement of freight in/out of the country, in accordance with organizational policy and procedure, and to comply with relevant local, co and international law and process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage the operations of the Ocean Solutions Department.
  • Responsible for the management of workload and back up.
  • Process files per company standards.
  • Review all quoting activities.
  • Set-up new accounts and assignments, review SOPs, update account profiles.
  • Monitor new account status to ensure quality performance.
  • Resolve problems or assign and follow-up with appropriate personnel.
  • Support/assist sales department as needed.
  • Maximize opportunities to improve customer service.
  • Provide support for current and new employee training; develop and mentor staff.
  • Motivate team members to achieve company and department goals.
  • Maintain 100% compliance with export laws regulations and "JAS standards."
  • Manage and develop efficient and effective flow of work to attain optimum efficiency and productivity of department.

  • Monitor and maintain workflow within the department.
  • Manage reports provided by the branch manager or corporate office (accounting/POD’s/ KPI’s etc).
  • File FMC’s to Ocean teams and check existing rates in place for validity.
  • Assist sales with rates and transportation options.
  • Instruct overseas agents of shipping procedures for customers.
  • Assist Import staff with any shipment issues they might have..
  • Meet with customers / carriers as needed.
  • Complete shipments in accordance to the defined business process management guidelines.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES** :**

  • The incumbent may directly and/or indirectly supervise one or more employees.

QUALIFICATIONS** :**

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Holder of a Bachelor’s Degree and/or Diploma in Business studies
  • Knowledge of transportation industry.
  • 5+ years import and export experience.
  • 2+ years’ experience supervising and developing staff
  • Strong customer service skills and outgoing personality
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office, JWS).
  • General understanding of import/export/transshipment [Ocean(LCL/FCL)]
  • Understanding Import/Export Compliance Regulations.
  • Possess working knowledge of accessing and using standard PC applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, Internet).

ENVIRONMENT:

100% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hands and finger to feel and handle; reach with arms and hands; talk and hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, and crouch; lift weight or exert a force up to a maximum of 25 pounds_._
