Job summary

Colgate-Palmolive India is seeking a Team Leader in Finishing to oversee filling lines and drive safety, quality, and production targets across shift teams.

The role requires hands-on machine experience, strong leadership, and the ability to implement PM/AM/CI and FP&R initiatives for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Engineering with 6+ years in production and 2+ years in supervision.
• Hands-on experience with filling machines; PM, AM, and CI projects; Changeover and RCA.
• Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and compliance in finishing operations.
• Organize safety training and conduct compliance checks.
• Oversee quality control and audits; implement 5S and TPM.
• Manage finishing ops for efficiency; supervise shift teams.
• Operate filling machines and optimize performance.
• Lead shift handovers and conduct briefings.
• Provide mentoring and performance feedback.
• Participate in PM/AM/CI activities and FP&R initiatives.
• Ensure machines meet production targets; maintain peak performance.
• Handle control systems incl. sensors, drives and PLC (desirable).

Brief introduction - Role Summary/Purpose

The Team Leader in the Finishing department is tasked with overseeing production operations, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards, and managing teams effectively in a shift-based work environment. The role requires a proactive leader with hands-on expertise in operating and managing filling lines.

Key Responsibilities

• Safety and Compliance: Uphold stringent safety protocols to foster a secure working environment.
• Organize training on safety best practices and perform regular compliance checks.
• Quality Assurance: Implement and uphold rigorous quality control standards, conducting audits as necessary.
• Drive initiatives to enhance quality through 5S and TPM methodologies.
• Operational Oversight: Manage and supervise finishing operations focused on efficiency and productivity.
• Operate filling machines, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.
• Shift Management: Lead rotational shift teams, ensuring smooth handover and meeting of production targets.
• Conduct shift briefings to align team objectives and reinforce operational goals.
• Leadership and Development: Mentor team members, fostering skills development and career progression.
• Deliver performance reviews and constructive feedback to enhance team dynamics.
• Maintenance and Continuous Improvement: Actively engage in Preventive Maintenance (PM), Autonomous Maintenance (AM), and Continuous Improvement (CI) activities.
• Implement FP&R strategies to enhance machine reliability and operational efficiency.
• Technical Proficiency: Demonstrate expertise in setting up, troubleshooting, and maintaining filling machines.
• Ensure machinery is operated at peak performance to meet production demands.
• Strong technical skills related to tube filling lines - variable frequency drives, servo drives and controllers, pressure, temperature and vacuum controllers, photo/proximity/capacitive sensors, flow meters, motors and pumps, cobots and robots, [Desirable - PLC programming]

Required Qualifications

• Education and Experience: Diploma or Degree degree in Engineering with at least 6 years in a production setting, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Hands-on experience with filling machines and executing PM, AM, and CI projects; Expertise in Changeover and RCA.
• Skills: Robust leadership and team management skills.
• Advanced problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
• Proficiency in industry-standard production tools and systems.
• Attributes: Ability to operate effectively in a shift-based work schedule.
• Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
• Proficiency in 5S, TPM, FP&R, and other process improvement methodologies.
