Job summary

Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories is seeking an Engineering Maintenance and Automation Manager to oversee operation, maintenance, and improvement of critical systems (PLC, DCS, HVAC, WFI, PW, steam). You will ensure regulatory compliance, safety, and reliability, while driving CAPEX budgets and cross-functional collaboration.

The role requires 10+ years in pharma maintenance, hands-on calibration, and a focus on energy efficiency and audit readiness through robust documentation.

Qualifications

  • B Tech/ Diploma in Electrical and electronics/ Eectronics and communications.
  • 10+ years of experience in OSD Process Maintenance.
  • Experience with GMP/FDA and regulatory audits.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee operation and maintenance of Standalone PLC, DCS, HVAC, WFI, PW, and steam systems.
  • Lead engineering and automation projects from initiation to completion.

Job Description
Job Summary

This role is for an Engineering Maintenance and Automation Manager, responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of critical engineering systems including Standalone PLCs, DCS, HVAC, WFI, PW, steam, and utility infrastructure. The position ensures regulatory compliance, safety adherence, and system reliability through preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance strategies.

Key responsibilities include leading engineering projects, managing CAPEX budgets, coordinating with cross-functional departments, and ensuring timely execution of automation, calibration, and modification activities. The role also focuses on optimizing automation systems, driving energy efficiency, and maintaining audit readiness through robust documentation and quality management practices.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Handling of L2, HMI & IPC upgradation projects
  • OSD process equipment like FBD, RMG, FBE, Compression, coating CAM packing lines and Packing handling experience required
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of critical engineering systems—including Standalone PLC, DCS, HVAC, WFI, PW, and steam to ensure continuous availability and minimal downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, FDA, and local regulations by conducting internal audits, enforcing safety protocols, and implementing effective CAPAs using tools like Why-Why analysis, Kaizens, and Poka-yoke.
  • Lead and execute engineering and automation projects from initiation to completion, including resource planning, budget approvals, and coordination with finance and SCM for timely delivery.
  • Maintain and optimize automation systems by identifying performance gaps, proposing improved architectures, and ensuring integration with plant operations.
  • Develop and monitor calibration schedules in SAP, ensuring execution as per SOPs, analyzing calibration data, and driving improvements in instrument reliability.
  • Design and improve preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, conduct breakdown analysis, and implement RCM and condition monitoring practices.
  • Train and mentor engineering teams on maintenance procedures, hazard identification, and safety practices, while fostering a culture of operational excellence and continuous learning.
  • Prepare and execute equipment qualification and validation schedules—including URS, DQ, IQ, OQ, PQ protocols and ensure documentation compliance through cross-functional coordination.

  • Experience in maintaining and calibrating process instrumentation such as pressure, temperature, and flow sensors is preferred.
  • Experience in ensuring system uptime and reliability using automation tools such as SCADA, PLCs, DCS and DAS is preferred.
