Job summary

Industrial Automation - Company in Mumbai/Pune seeks an experienced Team Lead (Automation) to guide and mentor the automation engineering team, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to high quality.

You will provide hands-on PLC, SCADA, and system integration guidance, review designs, coordinate FAT/SAT and commissioning, and collaborate with clients to resolve technical issues while driving best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation & Control Engineering.
• 6+ years in industrial automation with experience in PLC, SCADA, and project execution.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and mentor the automation engineering team with task allocation and progress monitoring.
• Provide technical guidance in PLC, SCADA, communications, troubleshooting, commissioning, and system integration.
• Review PLC/SCADA designs, architecture, deliverables, and project documents for quality and compliance.
• Coordinate FAT, SAT, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization activities with adequate preparation and support.
• Act as technical point of contact for clients and internal teams to resolve issues and ensure smooth delivery.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Team Lead (Automation) with strong technical knowledge and proven team management capabilities. The candidate will be responsible for leading, supporting, guiding, and managing the automation engineering team, ensuring projects are executed efficiently, on time, and to the required quality standards. The role will focus on technical leadership, project coordination, troubleshooting support, team development, and client coordination.

Role & Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and mentor the automation engineering team by allocating tasks, managing workload, monitoring progress, and providing technical guidance and support.
• Provide technical guidance and support to engineers in PLC, SCADA, HMI, communication, troubleshooting, commissioning, and system integration activities.
• Review and guide PLC/SCADA designs, system architecture, technical deliverables, and project documentation to ensure quality and compliance with project requirements.
• Coordinate and monitor FAT, SAT, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization activities, ensuring the team is adequately prepared and supported.
• Act as the technical point of contact for clients and internal teams, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth project execution.
• Review project deliverables and technical documentation, including FDS, SDS, I/O lists, test plans, commissioning documents, and user manuals, to ensure quality and completeness.
• Monitor project progress, identify technical and resource risks, and ensure adherence to project timelines, engineering standards, quality requirements, and safety procedures.
• Stay updated with the latest PLC, SCADA, industrial networking, automation technologies, and industry best practices and guide the team in adopting relevant technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, or a related field.
• More than 6 Years of experience in industrial automation, with significant experience in PLC, SCADA, and project execution.

Required Skills

• Strong technical understanding of PLC programming, SCADA/HMI, industrial communication, control systems, and automation architecture.
• Good knowledge of major PLC platforms such as Schneider, Siemens, Rockwell (Allen-Bradley), or Mitsubishi.
• Good understanding of SCADA platforms such as Wonderware InTouch, Ignition, WinCC, FactoryTalk View, or Citect SCADA.
• Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols including Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA, etc.
• Strong understanding of industrial automation principles, process instrumentation, control loops, electrical systems, and P&ID interpretation.
• Proven ability to lead, manage, support, and develop a team of automation engineers.
• Strong technical decision-making, problem-solving, communication, coordination, and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize activities, and ensure timely completion through effective team coordination.
• Willingness to travel to client sites for project reviews, commissioning support, troubleshooting, and technical coordination as required.
