Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services in Chennai seeks an IT professional to manage OS installation and upgrades, LVM tasks, Veritas clustering, and server provisioning. You will coordinate hardware replacements and resolve authentication issues, while implementing automation workflows and driver/firmware updates.

The role covers performance monitoring, swap setup, and Satellite server administration to ensure reliable infrastructure services.

Qualifications

• Experience in installing and upgrading operating systems (RedHat, CentOS) and applying major upgrades.
• Hands-on with LVM operations: migrations, mirroring, PV management, and FS resizing.
• Experience with Veritas Cluster tasks: resource group failover, suspend, start/stop.
• Hardware replacement coordination and firmware/driver updates.
• Troubleshooting authentication issues and access control in enterprise environments.
• Scripting for automation to schedule and run repetitive jobs.

Responsibilities

• Install and upgrade OS across servers and ensure compatibility with project components.
• Perform LVM operations including LV migrations, mirroring, PV moves and FS resizing.
• Manage Veritas Cluster tasks: failover, suspend, stop and start of resource groups.
• Coordinate hardware replacement activities and maintain hardware health.
• Resolve user authentication problems and ensure secure access.
• Install components and build/maintain servers, fix automation workflows.
• Update OS drivers and firmware as required; troubleshoot related issues.
• Monitor system performance: memory, disks, CPU; analyze and propose solutions.
• Set up swap and schedule recurring shell scripts for maintenance.
• Administer Satellite server: subscriptions, upgrades, and content creation.

Job description

• Installing & Upgrading OS (RedHat, Centos) including Major release upgrade.
• Performing LVM activities (LV Migration, Mirroring and Moving PV's, Creating, Extending, Reducing and removing the File Systems).
• Executing Veritas Cluster tasks (Resource group failover, suspend, stop and start).
• Co-Ordinating & Performing Hardware replacement.
• Managing & Resolving user authentication problems.
• Installing & Deploying Project related components.
• Build new servers & fixing the automation workflow issues.
• Installing OS drivers & Performing firmware upgrade.
• Identify the various OS related issue & Monitoring System Performance of Virtual memory, System events, Swapping, Disk utilization, CPU utilization also provide the solutions to that.
• Setting up Swap file systems & Scheduling of automatic, repetitive Jobs using basic shell scripting.
• Satellite server Administration (Maintaining the subscription, Upgrade Satellite server, Content creation).
