Job summary

DATAMARK, IN is seeking a Tamil Language Interpreter in full-time capacity in India. The role requires native fluency in English and Tamil, strong listening and note-taking, and the ability to explain cultural concepts to prevent miscommunication. Rotational shifts, including night, are part of the schedule.

The successful candidate will render accurate translations, maintain neutrality, and support clear communication during client interactions, with internet access a must.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Render accurate concepts and meanings between Tamil and English, following tone and syntax rules.
• Provide strict renditions of messages, handle challenging calls.
• Demonstrate good customer service with clear enunciation and professional voice.
• Follow client instructions, manage call flow, and avoid overpowering the conversation.
• Remain calm and professional during difficult or emergency situations.
• Be punctual and available during scheduled shifts.
• Ensure reliable internet access for work communications.
• Perform other duties as assigned for Tamil Language Interpreter.

Tamil Language Interpreter

Minimum Requirements

• High School degree or equivalent.
• Native fluency in English and Tamil.
• Advanced skills in the cultural dynamics (cultural implication and idiomatic expression) of Tamil.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note‑taking skills to maintain a high level of accuracy.
• Ability to concentrate, stay detached from the conversation, and remain neutral and objective at all times.
• Ability to explain certain cultural concepts to avoid miscommunication with the permission or at request of the client.

Responsibilities

• As a Successful Gujarati Language Interpreter, you need to render correct concepts and meanings between Tamil and English following complexity, clarity, tone and style from one language into another, upholding the correct rules for grammar and syntax in both languages.
• Provide strict renditions of the messages including every detail of the conversation and is prepared for challenging calls at any time.
• Employ good customer service and communication skills, clear enunciation, pronunciation, pleasant and professional voice as well as polite forms of expression.
• Follow instructions for clients, manage the flow of the call and avoid taking over the call, as well as avoid interaction with the limited English speaker person without the client's permission.
• Remain calm during calls in the event that one of the primary speakers is incoherent or upset, especially in emergency situations.
• Remain punctual and available during scheduled work hours.
• Ensure access to the internet for work related electronic communication.
• All other duties as assigned for the role of Tamil Language Interpreter.

Applicants should be comfortable with rotational shifts (including night).

Working days: 5 days (2 rotational week off)
