Job summary

Verdantas is seeking a Systems Administrator focused on Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) to design, deploy, and manage enterprise Azure and Windows server infrastructure. You will ensure secure, reliable operation of AD, AVD host pools, and related services, collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain optimal performance for end users.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or IT or equivalent field.
• 6-8 years of experience in systems administration or related roles.
• Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Windows Server environments.
• Strong knowledge of Active Directory, GPOs, and AD stabilization.
• Experience with Hyper-V or VMware virtualization environments.
• Proficiency in PowerShell automation and scripting.
• Ability to monitor, patch, secure, and optimize enterprise infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support enterprise infrastructure including AVD, AD, servers, and cloud resources.
• Design, deploy, maintain, and optimize AVD environments (host pools, session hosts, FSLogix).
• Manage lifecycle of AVD infrastructure including provisioning, patching, and monitoring.
• Monitor health, performance, security, and availability of AVD environments.
• Administer AD services and group policy while maintaining stability.
• Respond to incidents and service requests via ITSM (ServiceNow).
• Perform root-cause analysis for system issues and implement fixes.
• Document configurations, standards, and troubleshooting steps.

We at Verdantas, looking for a Systems Administrator (AVD Focus) to support Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Azure infrastructure, Windows Server, and Active Directory environments, ensuring secure, reliable, and high-performing enterprise operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer, maintain, and support enterprise infrastructure including physical and virtual servers, hypervisor platforms, cloud environments, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Active Directory, and related enterprise services.
• Design, deploy, maintain, and optimize AVD environments, including host pools, session hosts, application groups, FSLogix profiles, image management, Microsoft Entra ID integration, and supporting Azure resources.
• Manage the full lifecycle of AVD infrastructure, including provisioning, configuration, patching, performance tuning, monitoring, troubleshooting, security hardening, and decommissioning of virtual desktop resources.
• Monitor and maintain the health, performance, security, and availability of AVD environments, ensuring a consistent and reliable end-user experience.
• Administer Active Directory services, including Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC), Domains and Trusts, Sites and Services, Group Policy, and Distributed File System (DFS). Implement changes carefully while maintaining service stability and preserving existing configurations.
• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Windows Server operating systems, virtual machines, cloud resources, and supporting infrastructure components.
• Respond to incidents, service requests, escalations, and operational tasks through ServiceNow, ensuring timely resolution and effective communication with stakeholders.
• Diagnose system failures, performance issues, and operational problems across servers, virtual infrastructure, Azure services, networking, and end-user computing environments. Perform root‑cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions.
• Conduct system monitoring, capacity planning, performance tuning, patch management, and preventative maintenance to maintain secure and reliable infrastructure.
• Document systems, configurations, standards, procedures, and troubleshooting processes to expand and improve the organization s knowledge base.
• Apply a strong understanding of how Active Directory, networking, servers, storage, hardware, virtualization platforms, Azure services, and end‑user computing solutions interact within a complex enterprise environment.
• Collaborate with networking, security, application, cloud, and end‑user support teams to design and implement infrastructure solutions while maintaining operational stability and security.
• Participate in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) projects by assessing, integrating, migrating, and supporting acquired infrastructure and services.
• Assist with the design and implementation of new infrastructure solutions and complex system deployments while maintaining operational continuity, security compliance, and system reliability.
