Job summary

Saur Energy International is seeking a System Testing Engineer in Bengaluru. You will be responsible for configuring IEDs, developing HMIs, and testing control and relay panels for substation automation systems as part of Grid Automation projects.

You will work with the testing lead to carry out safe testing following standards, document results, and ensure ready-for-testing status with customer drawings and FAT activities.

Qualifications

• Experience with configuring IEDs and performing testing as per project requirements.
• Knowledge of modulation techniques and SDH/PDH networks; familiarity with MPLS-TP networks.

Responsibilities

• Configure IEDs and test Control, Protection and SAS panels per documented processes and checklists.
• Coordinate with testing lead and experts to ensure efficient testing activities.

• Handover final testing backups and ensure FAT readiness with customer-approved drawings.

Job description

As a System testing engineer, carrying out the configuration of IED’s, development of HMI’s in line with project requirements and testing of Control and relay panels, Substation automation system delivered and actively contribute to the testing team of Grid Automation Systems.

Execute the project IED’s configurations and testing safely following all safety standards of HEIL as well as customer. Report Hazards, Near Misses at work location for records and further improvement.

Carryout the Configurations of IED’s and testing the Control, Protection and SAS panels as per the documented process description and checklists. Continuous interactions with testing Lead and expert help to carry out the testing works effectively.

Report the Configuration and testing project status testing progress & testing plan to testing Lead. Ensure efficient use of the testing assets like Test kits, Tools etc.

Ensures project information of any project is fully taken from testing lead and get all IED’s fully configured and tested in line with customer approved drawings and ready for the project specific testing activities before offering the projects to customer during FAT.

Handing over the marked-up drawings to engineering for preparing the As-build drawing and onward submission to customer to close the project.

Handover the final testing backup CD's, Micro SCADA system backup, IET workplace backup and other backup as per the checklist to lead.

Actively and regularly (Compulsory for every project) provides feedback to Engineering Project Management, manufacturing and quality in way that ensures re-usage of experience.

Follow the key process like Test procedures, Time sheets and STAART Meetings.

Ensure the installed base numerical relays are maintained with minimum revisions by continuously updating the older revisions.

Ensure the usage of the latest tools and latest software versions during project IED configurations and testing.

Candidates should have strong knowledge of various modulation techniques, SDH/PDH network standards and MPLS-TP networks.

Candidates should be excellent in network designing and troubleshooting.

Should be able to demonstrate customer engagement and solve queries during customer FAT.

Learner who can demonstrate integration of various technologies to deliver turnkey projects.

Should have knowledge of L2 & L3 network devices.

Hands on experience in configuration Linux & Windows based servers for NMS.

Preparing network configuration according to channel plan.

Understanding application or services such as tele protection, tele operation, telephony and data communication.

Continuous learning & acquiring expertise in various protection schemes and Automation system to achieve the higher growth in ‘learning curve’.
